Has anyone tried a build keeping the AC20?

I came up with this version which retains a secondary small laser to poke with http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ba9048e3b2eac62

Or this one that goes a bit faster and goes double or nothing with the AC20 (armour allocation a matter for debtate). http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c2deb9a5a56043f

Thoughts? I want to try one, not sure which engine to go for.

This is the only real build I was able to come up with. UM-R60L All In

Pretty much you can't mount an AC-20 with an engine above 100xl. Too little tonnage. The Raven at 35 tons can comfortably fit one without being ridiculously slow.

There's no way I'm giving up my AC/20 on my Urbie 60L. :D

Current build uses endo and ferro, a 100-rating standard, with 1.5 tons of ammo and 4.5 tons of armor. Slow, yes, but it's working out OK so far.

I just tried this in "superstock" mode (two more tonnes of ammo) and while hilariously fun, I don't know how anyone can put up with the STD60 engine. It's awful. A one legged cow accelerates faster.

The problem y'all have, is you need to ditch stuff you don't need - armor for one thing, and excessive ammo and certainly no need for DHS.

Endo
Ferro
AC20
2 tons ammo
Small laser
1 JJ
XL180
3 shs
3 tons of armor (96 points)

After seeing a YouTube video, I tried building the Urbie shown and discovered any stock Urbie can be modified simply by:
- Adding Endo and DHS.
- Swapping the STD60 for a 125XL.
- Adding 5 DHS.
- other mods like ammo.

Here is the R60L version.
Try it with the R60 and R63 too, it works.
Still have the speed of a stock Heavy.

Yours looks a lot like mine.

I changed to a R63 so I could:
1) Drop all the armor on the left arm
2) Put one SL in the left torso and drop AC ammo by 1/2 ton
3) Drop one JJ for an extra half ton of Armor

Although I may need to drop the other JJ for another 1/2 ton of AC ammo.

Go big or go home.

And yes, I have gone through all three tons before.

cus its only 21 shots

but yeah if you are stealthy you can change the outcome of a game with a single ac20 but that speed is suicide

You give up the great AC20 quirks though :/

BTW all: You can affor to drop a LOT of head armour on urbie ;)

Patience, cover and smart aiming - that and I write the names of each enemy on every AC20 shell before battle.

On a Saturday drop, lost my AC arm about two minutes into the match - spent the rest of the fight hill-humping with my one small laser!

Getting 21 shots off in a 32.4 kph light mech is something of an achievement, no?

The speed isn't the suicidal part, the heat is. I never realized how hot the Caustic caldera could be.

I had a hilarious last stand there one round. It was just before the end of the match, and it had gotten to the point where the team was dropping like flies. I managed to sneak around and kill an almost dead Hunchback on the way in, then got jumped by a laser Urbie, but manage to get him when he overheated. I spin around and see a Hellbringer coming at me, blow off his remaining ST.

I promptly overheated there and exploded while shut down. Standards couldn't deal with the high heat lol.

Losing 7-12 is cushioned when 3 of those were from a troll mech :)

Here's where I'm at currently:
[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...189afcc85f00789[/smurfy]
As much as I like the idea of dropping one ton of ammo to add a second jump jet and second small laser, it hasn't proven beneficial as the extra 7 shots. This build has been more comfortable after speed tweak, and of course some well practiced shadowing of the heavyweights on your team.

Of course the biggest trick is to not get shot!
