Last night Sun the 1st of July 2012 at 1800hrs local time a c130h from the 145th AW in Charlotte NC crashed while fighting the wildfires in and around South Dakota. These Air National Guard Aircraft were carrying special equipment called MAFFS that allowed them to drop retardant onto the affected areas and refill within 12 minutes once on the ground before returning to the fight. Details are sketchy now but of the supposed six crew members three were aeromed evac'd to medical facilities and one was pronounced dead. I know there a lot of folks here who support, are in, or were former service members and might wish to know. If you want to help please donate to a reputable military aid foundation. I know the one confirmed deceased, a LtCol, leaves behind a wife and two children. I'll link the latest news story I can find.

This is very sad. Its to bad our current administation is cutting funding for fire suppression and refused to allow modern tech. "Modern" 747 bombers http://www.evergreen...nker/index.html This plane can go anywhere in the world but the U.S.A. I think there is an agenda here somewhere. My prayers for the familys.
