I download the game from the Download Now button... which pulls up the window after it is finished and then i try to download the patch... it keeps saying the File is Corrupted- the MD5 hashtag doesnt match the one on the server... but all i did was click the button it gave me on the Game Browser...

What am I doing wrong...?

Thanx
Nathan

youl did nothing wrong, I got same first attempt but success the second try. how many times for you so far ?

someone recommended the repair tool to me but it will only re download any corrupt file just like a manual attempt so I didn't use it for the patch, didn't see it as been any more usefull than clicking the button for this issue.

maybe wait till off peak traffic hours shut down your system cycle your connection start the patch and go to bed.

This happens once in a while, the repair tool will actually scan the system folders and delete bad data and replace it. If that still fails, it does happen occasionally. Remove the old installation from your system and re-download and patch usually fixes the issue.

The biggest thing I can say with MWO's download and patching system, is that it really does not like being cancelled/stopped or interupted part way through the update. That's when I last had this error. It's unfortunate but start it downloading or patching and leave it alone till it is completed.

It helps to run the patcher "As Administrator". you my also need to check that your firewall or antivirus is not interfereing. There is a known issue with AMD processors and Avast brand antivirus corrupting files (I presume while Avast is trying to unpack, scan, and repack the archives)

Avast actively scans incoming files, which includes "opening" them to take a peek and closing them as they come in. Picture the U.S. postal service. Imagine what happens when during a 'peek', the postman accidentally ripped the envelope and used duct tape to reseal it. You'd reject it, too, wouldn't you?

This issue has been fixed or seemingly, and was more a case of actually completing installs but stopping MWO from actually playing even when run as an administrator more so than an install error. They fixed it once, then reintroduced it a while ago but then fixed the issue by finally putting a proper fix into their software.

Edit: Never got the MD5 Hashtag error with this, MWO would start, try to launch into the main application and stall out due to a conflict issue with hardware acceleration coding on Amd Chipped PC's running Avast software.

And it isn't just Avast that carries these actions out, most anti-virus/system protection software attempts to do the same.
