What about that whole off map artillary idea ppl have been typing about.
Instead of it being just an ability how about it actually being a person in a LRM truck or Off world battle ship with orbital bombardment weps keying in the coordinates giving to you by the commander on the field.

If you are working as an industrialist, you better use my merc services.

Stuff like this would add so much to the game!
And corps can do what all good corps do, buy political favor, IE providing war material and/or C-Bills to the larger political houses. Or they can choose to be an independent dealer living on the edge, with a loose alliance with a number of merc groups.
