I have noticed a trend in the fight for planet Turkey..
I see that during NON ESSENTIAL hours that the Inner Sphere takes a lead in precentage of control of the Turkey.

Then as soon a Peak hours approach "BLAMO" the exact opposite occurs and for a vast majority of the 24 hour period, the Clans have the controlling percentage of planet Turkey.
It's been kinda funny watching the Inner Sphere get FALSE sense of accomplishment only to have it disappear like a F-Art in the wind.

Weird huh..???

I'm pretty sure that everyone in the IS realized the planet was lost about 2 hours into the event, its set up in such a way that whoever the attacking side is - wins.

The one and only way that the IS could win is if 0 clan teams were fielded for the last half day.

They should have come up with some other win condition. Like a win-to-loss ratio for clans and IS.

51% control when the event timer expires means the real fights will happen in the last hour of the event. Given the 63 zones, it could even be decided in the last 15 minutes.
Whomever shows up the most in that last hour will win.

Or we start working together to win matches. One thing I hear is very little comm chatter, little targets called, or just someone whining cause the team didn't support him when he ran off on his own.

I agree, during that last hurah though the Clans had a higher win loss ratio and still lost a bucket load of planets. So the win loss ratio probably wouldn't work either.

So they won the battles but lost the war?

Well they still have the 51% thing on each planet. If you've got a good premade on a planet who's winning all the matches, but 3 more PUG groups losing, you can win on win/loss ratio, but lose on territory. Or if you've got a small population of winners against turret drops, you wind up in the same solution.

But in this case with Tuk, we're talking about one planet. W/Loss ratio would suffice better than 51% ownership.

Or... maybe the "winner" needs higher than 51%, why not 66%. If barely half a planet is conquered does that mean the winners really own it? The 51% thing seems so arbitrary. I'm not sure why PGI hasn't tried different percentages for win conditions and see how that works out.

Honestly whatever 'win' condition they came up with somebody would have had a problem with. The fact that it flip-flops is actually a good sign though, it is unpredictable. In the beginning it seemed like it would be a landslide but now I think it's anyone's game.

Also this is why the leaderboards are nice. No matter who wins the planet you can take pride if you were the most valuable faction, strongest unit, etc.

No matter who wins the overall planet every faction and every unit still has something to gain by total win %age.

Although we're all more or less playing for 2nd place now. Damn you -MS-!

Dude. Your bitterness levels have been trough the roof all week.

IS has held the planet during EU prime time for every day of the event.

I guess you could say that, but when one Team WINS a larger percentage of it's macthes versus another Team and still loses the challenge, then the whole Percentage thing goes out the door for a deal like this..

Only one planet, and unless a bunch of Ghost drops happen (not likely during peak hours) then i'm unsure what would have been the best way to test this out.

You DO know that all this challenge really is..?? It's a test .

One a side note:
I don't play anywhere near as much as I used to play, i'm just a little put off by having to go through ANOTHER Beta stage of development.. Most of my Unit hardly plays anymore and I have gotten to be the same way.

The endless Tweaking/crying/nerfing/qwerkenings/etc/etc/etc...

How many YEARS has it been now..???

Forever in development is Forever.

My bitterness is equally proportionate to the terribleness of how this event was implemented, then extended in order to drag out how poorly thought out it was from the get go.

We have enjoyed it quite a bit. Been nice to try to keep ASE in second place of FRR units over OLD.

The real problem here is that 1500+ players are queuing up for IS and only 700+ for Clan.

Is there any solution for that? PGI allowed people to switch from IS to Clan during the event, beyond that I don't know...

I contributed i think 10 matches before the boredom of the queue had me off starting accounts and downloading new games.

Really no idea how the rest of the guys have been doing at this point, apparently well enough with the 14-5 of them to keep in contention I guess.

Best of luck to them and you, I can't tolerate having to wait in line for longer than the match plays out, the rewards aren't worth even the shortest time of 5 minutes I sat in queue x another 30-40 matches. There's just nothing entertaining or fun about staring at your screen waiting for a match.

The solution would have been to look at your player's factions at some point before the event and add an additional planet or planets for the overloaded faction to contend for among themselves. It's not like ISvIS is vying for control would be all that far fetched.

Or pick up on the imbalance before and offer the switch ahead of time with some sort of bonus for the first "x" (whatever is needed to close the gap - to swap sides for the weekend.

Make it over multiple planets the clans needed to push through over the weekend to get their faction to Tuk.

Or push the event back until you can come up with another solution that doesn't have people sitting in 15+ minute queues.

All sorts of things they could have done, if they had the foresight to check on the faction populations at some point before the event.

^ you just hit upon GOLD! The event is IS vs Clan, but allow infighting. You can attack other factions on your own side to steal victory points from them or gain victory points for your own faction on the scoreboard. You don't need a planetary slice to fight on (ok, this assumes their servers could handle more than 63 simultaneous matches - maybe not). Then the outcome of your IS vs IS battle is not to affect the overall planet holding, but it will change the amount of points your faction has to rank it among the others. This would allow the 40 or so teams in the queue to opt to fight each other for some points.

I think it's a fantastic idea.
