hi i would like say on the whole that cw maps are broken for a few reasons that the gate gens are very badly placed and the drop points is easily camped in. but not much can be done at the moment.

a few ideas i am sure people have already talked about before.

To help relive the boredom of attack and defend there should be modes like the skirmish or the conquest modes placed between base/orbital gun mode attack/defend.

as for the drop points the drop ships should land and stay landed yes people will say that the other team will stay at their drop points but as a counter to this the drop ship has destructible weapon points which would be easy to hit at long range which will be out of range of the drop ship and once the last hard point is destroyed the drop ship takes off with the remaining mechs on broad.

these are ideas that i have had about this event.

The issue is not that clans can rush the generators, it is that IS only can with through attrition. But even that is a minor issue compared to the major problem with this event.

The fact that bottlenecking is restricting fast matches is the real issue. PGI needs to do some real hardware upgrades so that it can handle more than 63 consecutive matches.

Oh and for those people who think Russ's CW change is the solution.. IT IS NOT !!! It can and will be exploited very easily because the fundamental problem of CW has not been fixed. A win should always constitute gaining a section of the map regardless of if you are defending, attacking, or counter attacking. The fact that PGI could have solved many of the issues that everyone has had with that simple fix at the beginning instead of complicating it with different game modes and which side gets to has the initiative to which CW game mode they are in really boggles my mind.

Finally, CW needs to be more of an organic experience than It currently is. The sad realization that the first hours of CW in any time cycle is relatively dead is because the reason to participate in it means little. My suggestion to PGI would be to get rid of the three cycles all together, make it so that once a planet caps at 100% a new planet is put into play (with the new 4 player mode you could even dictate the next planet) also make that planet that was recently conquered to 100% open for 8 hours which gives the players of the defeated planet the ability to retake it. It would give factions more tactical ability that is sorely missing.

I'm just surprised someone won at Boreal. I don't think I've ever seen IS or Clan come close to that one thanks to both gates being a single bottleneck and a stunning lack of cover for attackers for a few hundred meters.

Really, CW was doomed to fail the moment PGI insisted on only one mode and a similar variation of it.

So I guess in conclusion we should HOPE that PGI reads these constructive comments and makes some CW changes, because I totally have CW fatigue after this event.

If I was Russ and I realized my long-term survival depended on making the players really happy I would pay for a workshop somewhere and fly some of the people with ideas that represent a mix in this community and hammer out some changes/paths for CW and the game to evolve.

For example:

I would be totally happy with a Solaris mode of play similar to CW. Just a lot of 1 on 1's and/or 4 on 4 in an arena type settings like they made in MW4. That would keep the PUGs and shoot em up types happy. Have weight class leader boards and allow opponents to wager C-bills on the match outcome.

Then merge the modes that we play in "normal mode" into CW for more variety. I like the idea that once a planet is 100% captured the faction that captures it can move on to another planet. Lots of ideas that would give this game more longevity.

I have over 100 mechs... I don't want more mechs... I want better gameplay and variety, especially in the "poster child" for MWO: CW.
