- PGI said it had to do with additional resources being needed to render a second view. This was mentioned some time back when discussing this and Advanced Zoom before it was changed.
- There is only one pilot in a Mech, they cannot look everywhere.

Now I would think giving a zoom in & out feature to the minimap would help, right now it is stuck at one range where you and any Mechs near you blob into one arrow. I know MW2 had it.

A modern tank does have a turret with a number of periscopes that allow at least 2 crew members to see in pretty much in every direction, including behind them. So while the driver cannot see what's behind him, other crew members can.

A mech has only one crew member. So in all fairness, that dude should have some way of seeing what's behind him :)

Sounds like folks need to avail themselves of more of the available Tech in game. Like perhaps 360 Target Retention or Seismic Sensor. But alas, they don't add to the dakka dakka or Wub Wub so are simply seen as a waste of module space.

Damn shame really. More critical "thinking" would go a long way around here. ;)

If PGI did put in a RV, I would hope they would implement the "compressed 3600" view that true MechWarriors got through their Neurohelmet feeds.

Wait? What! We don't actually wear Neurohelmets in the game. Bah humbug! :)

No other Mechwarrior games had this feature, so why would you expect it from MWO? It's impossible. Just like multiple targeting buttons (nearest enemy, etc).

Hat. Switch.

But yes, I got the sarcasm. :)

But why doth he complain so loudly. Those games can still be played and those absolutely "crucial features" can still be enjoyed through them.

MWO players can't press "R" ffs. What are they gonna due with 5 additional other "very exciting" keyboard buttons that they won't ever press? Cause ...reasons. LOL! ;)

BUT OP, to use a rear-view mirror you'd need a rear window...

They replaced rear view mirrors with situational awareness. Think someone came up with it when they saw a person turn their head.

Mechwarrior 4 had the ability to see behind you, just a button you could hold to view out the rear camera. So there's no need for an embedded rear view display (which the engine can't handle anyway), it could easily handle switching over entirely to a rear camera while holding (or toggling) a button.

Rear veiw would take out the 'poke in the back and hide' fun and sneaking up on people.

That being said, they can't do a PiP. Like advanced zoom, it doesn't exsists.
Like how they can't do splash damage either, splash damage on CerPPC's doesn't exsist either.

It could just be a button that switches front to back, no need for a PiP at all. No real need for reaview at all either tho.
