A few of my friends have re-joined the game and we all decided that we would join the same faction.

While experimenting with different options one of our party created a unit. To see how things worked, we joined the unit and allocated ranks etc.

I now find that my 7 day contract is permanent.

This was not my desire and not something I was aware of.

Can anyone explain why this has happened? I presume that it is because the guy who created the unit has gone permanent contract and this has bumped all of us up?

This is a terrible mistake for several of my friends who are new to the game as they have all done the same thing -selected 7 days so as to be able to move around. There is no warning of he change when you join a unit and it will now cost us 1.5 mil to break the contract.

Also, is it usual for this forum to miss every third character that is typed?

The forum not working is probably the issues it has with IE. Works fine on other browsers.

Yes, your contract was changed to the unit's permanent contract.

You can buy out of the contract (expensive). How much is the penalty?

You can leave the unit, but I don't know if it will cancel your contract. I'm thinking probably not.

You could just stay with that faction (since we're in Beta and it doesn't matter too much since there's no passive rewards).

There will probably be another map and faction reset in late summer.

No - leaving the unit does not change anything.

The penalty is 50k per day and in my case it shows 23 days to release so 1,150,000 credits is the penalty.

This does give me some hope though as it is obviously counting days so I hope it will continue to get cheaper. Guess I will just spend a bit longer at Ghost bear!

I can understand why the system does this but it needs a warning screen to let people know what is about to happen.

I would definitely contact support about your issue, as you should not have to suffer a penalty for an ingame goof.

1.15mil + 3 days as an unaffiliated merc are stiff penalties for some.

Yeah, sounds like the unit contract bumped you. Flipside is that it doesn't take long to get a mill c-bills in cw; usually around 3-4 battles...5 or 6 without premium.

I don't think it is counting down days, sorry. Same thing happened to me, big waste of c-bills.

I have pretty much the same problem, only that I signed a 1-week contract with Davion and when I tried to cancel it, I shelled out the necessary forfeit claims (C-Bills etc) and waited the allocated time until I could rejoin House Liao, except that instead of the contract ending, it went straight to signing back with Davion. Kind of frustrating and annoying since I think less of the Davions than I do of Clan Smoke aguar. :/

if you all are pretty new to cw you should consider "rotating" through the factions.

my friends and i are currently doing 1week contracts with all the IS-Houses so we can get the rank2 in every house >> 6 free mechbays.

after that we consider doing a 4 week excursion into clan contracts (1 week each = another 4 free mechbays.)

the next free mechbays would be at rank6, but for some of our "casuals" this is not doable in a short period of time.

Precisely what I and a few of my friends were looking to do. We just got caught with the unit thing. Sadly all we wanted to do was experiment with the system and find out about it should the opportunity arise and it was something we wanted to do. I guess we certainly got our info!

It jut needs a warning scree and the option to say no.

I have sufficient IS mechs to do drops and my Clan Mechs are coming along. Level two to get the mech bays and the credits that go with them are a gift.

John1352 - I think you are right!

Lukoi -I have sent a support email although I don't hold a lot of hope as it is our mistake not theirs.

To be honest I don't care too much for myself but we have a couple of guys who are really interested but just starting out. I think it would be a shame for them to miss out or have to pay.

What ever doesn't kill you right?
