Currently, you can toggle chainfire or groupfire, but you can't assign chainfire to a single group. I suggest that it be set up so that you can assign weapons into groups and then toggle chain/group on the individual groups.

How this would work in practice:
You've got a GRF-2N (for example) loaded out with 4x SRM6s and 2x MPLs. You want the MPLs to both fire at once by clicking the left mouse button, but you want the right mouse button to chain-fire the SRM6s (to prevent ghost heating).

In game, during the heat of battle, you can then group fire the MPLs while at the same time chain-firing your SRM6s in rapid succession.

In the weapons grouping options you would first assign weapons to groups, then assign chain/group to the separate groups.

This would give much greater control of how you engage the enemy and how you play each mech.

No sure I follow you there.
Using the arrow keys and the left CTRL you can move weapons into different groups and then set if a particular group is on chain fire or not.

My mistake - obviously another nuance that had previously escaped me.

But you are on to something;

I would like to group within a group on one firing button.

Take 6 MLasers (all on one Group, but they are fired in groups of 3).

If I click once, the first group fires, if I click the same button again, the second group fires.

Call it Chain Group Fire.

Might be right CTRL actually. Sorry. Brain was thinking it. Fingers didn't type it.

@Aphoticus. Yes, considered that might be an interesting option as well. Like pairing weapons in a single group to fire together so instead of one at a time on chain fire it might be 2 or more at a time before moving to the next paring.
Or a 'Burst fire' or 'Scattershot' mode as a third/forth option.
However the existing functionality with multiple groups really lets you do this with different buttons so I don't think it would be added.

I was right the first time. This is something that everyone's been asking for for quite a while now. Here's just a couple of recent ones:

Thanks, it looks like people are catching on, I just started one more topic about it. Hopefully this sinks it in. Go ahead, take the poll, there's three answers and only one of them is correct ; )

What you are looking for is Fire Bin Numbers within the Grouping. It has been desperately missed by myself personally upon the first launch back in the early days. It allows for a much higher degree of customization from one pilot to the next even in similar or identical builds.
