I cant speak for everyone but when i purchase a mech or mech pack i look at the perks that a mech has and consider the option before i spend real money ...so when i do purchase a mech with cash and it comes with certain perks me buying that mech includes the perks it came with so when i buy a champion mech that has lrm 10 perks like range cool-down and what not or laser or ballistic and when one day they decide to remove the perks that i already payed for i feel that they're steeling from me its like going to a store and buying a cell phone and the next day one of the employees coming and taking the screen back (flipphone)yeah i can still make calls but its no longer what i payed for...

VERY DISAPPOINTED !!!!!

Life lesson: Don't use quirks as the only reason for buying a gundam. Try to look at the mech's innate features (i.e. hardpoints, engine, hitboxes, etc.) to make most of your decision, and then perhaps use quirks/perks as the "extra cream filling" or "cherry on top."

Just chasing quirks around exclusively can and will result in your new mech getting nerfed or the mech you just sold getting buffed.

Like Fup said, buy a mech for things other than quirks. Mechs are constantly being balanced and things will change.

Why won't it read???

No seriously though, read the terms and agreement that you've agreed to already. You didn't buy a champ mech with lrm/10 perks. You bought the right to use a champ mech that has lrm/10 perks right now, but access to those perks or the champion may be revoked or changed at any time during gameplay. And that you in fact do not own anything, but merely rent the pixels.

Now imagine how people felt/feel who pumped hundreds of dollars into various mechs only to have them gimped into the ground.

If value is of any concern to you, and I say this lightly because you're spending real world cash to rent pixels temporarily in a video game, then grind out the Cbills. WHEN those mechs are nerfed into the ground as history has shown, you are only out your time, and not your time and real money.

Welcome to MWO.

Go ahead and buy a mech for its quirks. Just don't expect them to be there forever.

I just had this happen, I had made several posts regarding BJ1, BJ1(C), and BJ-A perks.

The BJ-1 comes stock w/ AC2/s but the competitive build at the time was the AC/20+3ML. I was told they based the quirks on the stock load out. So it got AC/2 quirks.

Then comes the BJ-1(C), the champion BJ-1, which comes 'stock' with the competitive AC/20+3ML load out, but guess what? They gave it AC/2 quirks because it's really just a BJ1 with an earning bonus. But the BJ-1(C) technically comes stock with an AC/20! Yes I know, I know.

And that BJ-A Arrow hero mech, oh that one comes stock with LPL and Machine guns, so naturally they gave it LPL, MG quirks right? NOPE, that one got AC/20 perks. HUH? When the quirks first came out the BJ-A got the AC/20 quirks regardless what it's stock load out is. But that doesn't make sense right?

There was a sale, and I had a chance to pickup the BJ-A. I figured I would like to run the AC/20 build and earn some extra Cbills while doing it. The following patch, the BJ-A's quirks were reset to LPL+MG, and when I checked back, the BJ-1(C) and BJ-1 are still both AC/2....

I haven't bought a single point of MC, nor will I spend another real world dime on this game. I'm currently waiting for the 90-day gap between MC and Cbill release before I pickup anything else.

Lesson learned.

They are called "Quirks" and they are about as static as a crack user playing a max engined Commando.

I buy mech packs to buy them. Quirks and other things can come later.

When I bought wave II I thought the 3 (light, medium, and heavy) I bought were good. Turns out they weren't, but I still played with them. People think Mist Lynx is the tin can with no guns, but it sure is fun to me. Hellbringer even more for it's ecm function :) I can't, though, say the Ice Ferret is any good. After I mastered it, I sold the other 2 variants and stripped my prime.

Steeling? You were sold something that has a disclaimer saying it can change at any point after purchase at the producer's discretion.

You made a mistake thinking things would stay the same.

Why I bought:
Timberwolf - Looked awesome, and played good.
Clan wave 2 - Originally just the Koshi was purchased, because I wanted a fast clan light. Later upgraded for the King Crab.
Urbanmech - help the cause and Urbanmech looked awesome.
Clan wave 3 - Executioner was 2 sexy.

I never use real money to buy mechs for the quirks, and for the clans at least, hardpoints. Always bought them for the looks or how they played. Don't regret any purchase.

I buy mechs based on, looks, sales, nostalgia, overall design (hitboxes, JJ, etc). Never for quirks, I will however admit to being disappointed when down the line the quirks on a mech I liked switch away from my build. Afterwards sometimes my build stays the same, sometimes it changes, depending on if the quirks work with stuff I like. I always worry when I don't change that I might not be as effective now.

I rambled a bit there but bottom line, buy mechs for things like looks, hardpoint placement, shape of the mech, if it has things you like on a mech (JJ, ECM), or because it was that mech you loved from TT or old games. Never for quirks they change too much, same as everyone else said.
