When I started playing I was told that there was collisions in the game. Reading the forum and recounting some events from other players I would love to have collisions back in the game.

This would put more realistic combat Technics and give the half destroyed mech a way to go out in a flame of glory...

I would be even up for ejection to cause damage to surrounding mechs... But I would settle with death for above... With a crashing down to earth Highlander cause fear and panic :)

1) Collisions are down the road still hopefully

2) ejection should never grief mechs (its too ripe for abuse)

3) death from above would be awesome and hopefully a side-effect whenever they introduce collisions

They are already talking about it....http://mwomercs.com/...n-hall-meeting/

And its death FROM above...just an FYI.

Also, i think Eject and explosion mechanics would be great, Would stop face hugging and promote better play habits. I cannot tell you how many time i shoot friendly because they dont stop once they are at optimal range for weapons. They just keep walking in and face hug which blocks shots from friendly (maybe done on purpose) and forces them to have to shoot around your or through you depending on there mood.

So bring the eject and engine explosions on...will stop face huggers once they get nuked a few times.

PGI can't even this balance this game - collisions are a pipe dream.

Highlander burial. This needs to happen. I'd buy a heavy metal if this were added back in. Just no repeat of dragon bowling. That sucked.

Anyone have that video of lots of atlases/direwolves (can't remember) trying to drop through the center hole in terra therma at the same time?

It shows how broken collision detection between mechs is right now. It would give the OP a better idea of why it hasn't been re-impletemented yet.

Wish I could find it, it's pretty hilarious.

Collisions were useless. The level of abuse they granted was bad back in the day and now with the really fast clan heavies... Yeah... Not a good idea.

It will mostly boil down to using mostly lights and fast mediums to tackle and kill light mechs before they can get back up.... Because that was how life as a light pilot back in the day was.

This begs the question, is the thread creator and the people in it referring to just plain collisions by themselves, or are they referring to knockdowns? People on this forum have a very nasty habit of interchanging those words.

Definitions, for those who don't get it:
Collision: Broad/general term for when two solid objects come into contact.
Knockdown: Specific event for when an object is unable to stand upright any longer.

I think that improved collision detection and interactions (i.e. make a loud clang/thud when you collide, a bit of screen shake, etc., but STAY ON YOUR FEET) could be fine, but I definitely share your concerns about knockdowns causing mech class balancing issues.

Then instead of falling over, let lighter mechs that run into larger mechs take more damage than the current slight damage to legs. Would help if mechs don't go through another mech just because it running around pretty quickly.

No, they just have to give you a date at least 3 more times before doing anything. It's how things work around here.

I agree, we need to be reminded we are in walking mechs, with arms and legs, not simple tanks with a turret. It doesn't have to break the game and it wouldn't if done properly.

Also in canon knockdown is rather uncommon as long as gyros are functioning and leg actuators (and legs) are intact. Except for the attacker in special cases (ie. 'death from above').

Mechs exploding (other than ammo explosions) are not really Canon, Fusion engines in BTech are supposed to be a 'safe' type that shouldn't ever 'go critical' or anything like that.

I remember sync dropping even my non-MWO-playing friends liked that video. Also the gravity-defying "Mecha-Jesus" in triple stack (44 seconds into the video).

Jeebus. People complain about lack of communication from PGI, but fail to do anything to inform themselves. In the most recent town hall, this was addressed. Russ spent 3 hours answering player questions, but apparently the guys that posted today without bothering to inform themselves decided it was more fun to complain than to do anything productive.

In answer to your question, Moogy, Russ indicated that he hates the current rubberbanding bounce when two mechs hit, that they will be working on this in the next few months and want to add collision dmg back in while preventing the knockdown griefing that happened before. Many resources have been tied up in CW and mechlab that are about to be freed up. Ask this question for the next town hall for a better response.

To the forum warriors that show up to complain, please, go volunteer at a soup kitchen or something. Your complaints and first world problems are so tired. Your pet peeve is not the priority. If you can't see that dramatic improvements are happening with each patch and you don't want to be here, then do the rest of us a favor and go play :::insert popular bs title here:::. The rest of us are here to kill mechs.
