It will mostly boil down to using mostly lights and fast mediums to tackle and kill light mechs before they can get back up.... Because that was how life as a light pilot back in the day was.
This begs the question, is the thread creator and the people in it referring to just plain collisions by themselves, or are they referring to
knockdowns? People on this forum have a very nasty habit of interchanging those words.
Definitions, for those who don't get it:
Collision: Broad/general term for when two solid objects come into contact.
Knockdown: Specific event for when an object is unable to stand upright any longer.
I think that improved collision detection and interactions (i.e. make a loud clang/thud when you collide, a bit of screen shake, etc., but STAY ON YOUR FEET) could be fine, but I definitely share your concerns about knockdowns causing mech class balancing issues.
