 lovely stats

Clan complains bout 4N - IS complains about streak crows and heavy ecm

Just 1891 of 17226 players managed to complete the tourney -> worth a title ;)

how many of IS completed? How many clanners completed?

Thank you, always nice to see some hard numbers.

One question, how many played in the NON CW matches at the same time? Clan and Inter-sphere?

I also DEMAND to know who was and who was not wearing a HAT at the time of the battle. :P

I retract the HAT request and change my Demand to a COOKIE!

How about some basic info here?
Weapon usage for both.

Is there a point? Large Pulse Lasers and ER Large Lasers would be at the top of the lists for both sides apart from maybe clans with ER Medium. I would have loved to participate in CW if it was anything more than "load up as many large lasers as possible and kill those who were silly enough to deploy builds with weapons for mid/close range"

Is there any chance we can get a list of units in order of performance? regardless of faction, maybe top 20-50 units? Please?

This is great! Now everyone can see just how overrepresented a small fraction of the mech variants are.

From these numbers (lumping Champions together with their base variants), we can see that just the top 5 IS variants (TDR5SS, TDR9SE, RVN3L, STK4N, and TDR9S) accounted for a full 26% of all IS mechs used*, despite constituting only 3% of the total 166 existing IS variants. Furthermore, the top variant was over seven times as common as the 18th variant (RVN2X), and almost half of all mechs used (47%) came from the listed top (18) variants.

Think about that: you were about as likely to see one of a mere 18 variants as you were to see one of the remaining 148 variants. That's a lot of wasted diversity.

Could we please please please hear something from the devs explaining why in the world we don't have a dropdeck construction budget based on mech usage frequency instead of tonnage? It'd be simple to implement, and would open up a lot of diversity without adding to the neverending buff/nerf quirk cycle of grief; besides, pretending tonnage=potency had always been obviously absurd even before considering Gargoyles...**

*Adding the IS class totals together, I count 669,220 total IS mechs used; the listed top IS variants add up to 313,661; the top-5 total 176,716.

**See also http://mwomercs.com/...levalue-system/ for Roland's thorough pre-CW exploration of such an idea. Note that while he uses the term "Battle Value", it's really nothing like TT BV.

Great stats!

I vote that you throw some pity at the 36 poor chumps languishing on 49. One pity point!

Damn people, numbers this, numbers that, derp derp derp, woka woka woka, we played and someone won and someone lost, did you have fun or were you sitting there wringing your hands sweating the numbers, get over it and the next time maybe the clans lose and I.S. wins, most of us are playing for fun not for the numbers or the nerfs or to read the sad lamentaions of some people we see hidden in comments here and in hundreds of posts, This is MWO we waited years for this or did you sit there waiting for the numbers??????.
Happier than a pig in mud that my game exists, c'mon PGI crank this thing to maximum I love this game.

So Clanners had less players yet won, but we can see that Clanners caused more friendly fire damage than their IS counterparts. So if we have less clanners & the clanner players are also of lower quality to their IS counterparts but were still able to win the event, then clearly Clan mechs are still OP.

Total Friendly Fire done by IS Mechs: 4,065,350

Total Friendly Fire done by Clan Mechs:4,280,595

Thank you for piling together the data, very informative, shows how overrepresented some 3 IS and 3 Clan mechs are, also how Clans overwhelmed IS despite being a third less numerous and suffering more fatalities.

Yet I am wondering, off topic qestion, why some players received "beta-1" CW title and some didn't, I haven't received it so would be interested to know the threshold at which it was rewarded.

Are there any statistics on the group sizes participating per side?

Such as an example, Inner Sphere had ##% of the drops 12 mans, ##% of the drops had 11 mans, ##% of the drops had 10 mans, ... , and so on.

That way we can see what size of group is participating the most for for each side (Inner Sphere and Clan). It also would be nice to see per faction base as well.

Also the friendly fire stats was interesting. Clanners need to work on their aim lol.

The problem will not be fixed by balancing the game around discouraging players who want to play the best IS mechs. The primary reason these IS mechs are played is because the quirks make them almost on-par with Clan mechs. Almost is the key word here. These statistics just show how weak the remaining IS mechs are when compared to these.

The main worry I have is that PGI will bring out Thor's Nerfhammer and destroy the only mechs that can stand up to clans. Do they need a nerf? Perhaps, but they shouldn't nerf them into oblivion. Smaller steps are required. 1-3% decreases until things feel right are far better than 25% decreases.

Also PGI really needs to look at the IS mechs that were not used and address why. For example: "Why was the TDR used? Why not the Cataphract?" "Was it because the CTF dies in just a few hits compared to the TDR?" And consider what they can do to address that.

Also, the number of people who succeeded in the challenge should be a big enough hint to PGI that they should give points based on match score, not a threshold. Such as: "Gain 1 point for each increment of 80 match score." Thus if you get 160 match score, you get 2 points. 240? 3 points. 320? 4 points. Requiring players to play 40 matches is demoralizing and burns people out. If you want players, you have to encourage them to play well, not to grind grind grind grind. There is enough of a grind to buy mechs as it is. To participate should be a relief of that grind.

So 2000 players played and won only one match.
11322 players played only up to 25 points. - 25 winning matches.
4349 players completed and won 26 or more matches.

Every 5 levels increments seem to be the stopping point at which people stopped playing.
except if someone achieved over 30 matches, they more than likely would attempt to
make it to 50 wins and complete the event.

Sugestion, see why people only played CW less than 10 matches in the week
even with extra rewards being offered.

Also, with this one we could construct a percentage table weighted on the
ballance of mechs, in other words contrast the mechs used by the thier numbers
to predict the lineup of the mechs used in battles.

Interesting that more clan mechs got destroyed and overall did less damage than Inner Sphere. Also lol at all the meta mechs that got tons of representation like Stalkers, Thunderbolts, Firestarters, Hellbringers, Timber Wolves, and Stormcrows. Looks like people are big fans of cheese.

I do like seeing stats like these, but it seems some of the numbers are off. Example being:
Total players: 17,226
 • Total IS Players: 10346
 • Total Clan Players: 7312
That should be 17,658 total players then.

Otherwise neat-o stuff!

That's the defectors getting counted twice.

17,658- 17,226 = 432

Quote

Players changed from IS to Clan during the event: 380
Players changed from Clan to IS during the event: 52

380 + 52 = 432

Because MATH is OP:
334,558 matches *4 'Mechs per match = 1338232 total 'Mechs available to be destroyed.

I suspect the Garden hose stream duration of most Clan weapons the main reason Friendly fire incidents are up. We already said that would happen after the 1st Clan Paulnerfhammer.

True but I think you forget to times your result by 24 for total number of player per match,
