Well the first map, Boreal, is awful to assault. So I guess CW is balanced now? We can get buggered assaulting Boreal, or we can get buggered defending Emerald.

Mission Accomplished?

Boreal can be easy to assault. You just need a solid drop deck and good coordination to to it.

TDR5SS (ERLL)
TDR5SS (MPL)
Stalker 4N (LL)
FS9-S (dual ams with 5MPL) (It is mandatory that two guys bring ECM for the first two phases .. ECM ERLL ravens or Spiders are preferred ... DDC for your push up either lane)

Run this drop deck, show your guys how to move up as a group into sniper range and understand where the secondary sniper spots are at and you got it.

There are alternates to this and variations to the mechs you can use but this works incredibly effectively. We also brawl push at times up either lane or sometimes even an old school light rush just to change things up and not be predictable.

My biggest problem with the map is that they are apparently not listening to any feedback regarding the maps. Almost every major issue people have with the previous maps is present. To me it represents a step backwards as it is the worse of all CW maps.

that's a fine all T1/T2 IS drop deck suitable for probably anything in CW. What I was meaning it its stupid easy to defend, hence it being awful to assault.

Park LL meta mechs on the rise between the two gates and with enough LL (5 STK-4Ns will do it) you can melt any mechs that goes up to hit the door gens. I was in on a 66thAH drop who dropped with 5 Stalkers in the first wave. (I had a BLR-1G with only two LL, so giggles from the 66th came at me) and we kept the Clans off the ramps for 7.5 minutes. We killed 8 of them before the first gate opened.

Once we were up 14-1 we pushed out from Alpha, made sure every one of us hit at least 80 points then stood there and offered our mechs to the enemy so they could get their 80. We let them have one more go at us in the base, they died so we then we had batchall duels until it was over. That part was fun.

Boreal is heavily tilted towards the defenders, be they clans or IS.

I love this map, especially defending against clans! I drop 2 raven's, cicada and jagger. The mobility really helps and clan mechs over heat so fast they are fish in a barrel. Once they are in the base I just start running round & round them and take them apart. I used to go for legs but now it's arms/side torso. Clans weapons mostly go in the arms, so it's like declawing a cat.

I agree that there needs to be some tweaks, the gen sniping is silly but it's a very minor problem that should be fixed quickly. I'm starting to worry because they haven't fixed it already, so really questioning their competency again.

I do agree with both teams are similar competency then for sure. I'd adjust and go light rush (works for us but not clans obviously).

I am hopeful to see more evolution within the game strategies / mechanics. One are of concern ... IS has no medium OP SSRM mech. I think some mechs are going to need some serious SSRM-2 quirks to keep up.

I don't think IS has as much to fear from lights. Our AC weaponry is a lot more effective.
