I could buy a timberwolf iinstead but hear they got nerfed.. and kinda like the mad dog looks.

Being an old MW player, I copied the mad dog II build (MW4's build, which is technically cannon for awhile now) and went with a BAP, 2 LRM 20, and 4 Medium pulse lasers, Med pulse lasers for when rascalls get up close. You can do 4 er mediums but I preffer 4 medium pulses (warning: getting elite would help with the heat)


Also keep the prime omnipods stock, when Mad dog gets quirks soon it would thus get a better omnipod set bonus.

I do suggest playing the other 2-3 mad dogs differently however. Try running SRm's on them, or a duel UAC 10 build, etc. you may surprise yourself!

I bought the mad-dog b and set it up like you said.. Figure i can use streaks later easier in that variant than the prime.

The Prime has all the hardpoints you need for that. I'm guessing you aren't familiar with Smurfy.

yeah i use smurfy, but mostly just fit stuff on the fly.
Never used omnipods, seems i can buy any part of the mech except center piece.
So i guess Im gonna buy the a-sides and use 3x5 LRM.
Went and changed it to use 4 e-med lasers since the pulses were so hot, also got a tag in there.

Its a quite nice mech, not sure why people complain so much. Maybe its because iv never used clans, but compared to my IS mechs its pretty good.

Sure its big, but id rather think some other mechs should be scaled up instead of make this smaller..
Just the fact you have Clan xl makes you more survivable than most mechs since you are running at 80kph and dont care if loose a side.

The Mad Dog is an excellent brawler.
The trick is you have to build asymmetric and load all of your weapons on one side of your mech which you use as a gigantic shield.

Yep very true, my go to is 3 ASRM6 and a gauss rifle on the left, I love it!

they can be used rather well as close support LRM machines in solo queue.

Narc + 5xLRM10 + 2 MLs works well but you need to stay with the pack and you need to use the narc on targets that benefit you the most.
