They could instead get off their ass and fix their game and then more people would play and spend money, but no instead apologists insist that the second they stop handing over hundreds of dollars for mech packs that PGI will fold and shut down the game despite how much money has been poured into it already.

OK......I realize that you don't like what they are doing with the game....I understand that you want them fix what you want them too, that seems to be life with MMO's these days. However, you seem to be suggesting that they already have enough funds to operate for an indefinite time frame even if all income stopped at this point. When you can cite actual numbers to what their operational costs are, when you can show conclusively that they are NOT working on bugs within the system, when you can show that they are in NO WAY working to improve this game, then you will have a leg to stand on. You will still call me an apologist without actually citing any actual facts, just supposition based on what you think.

I believe that they need to go back and work on specific parts of the game.
  • Mech Lab (Work in progress)
  • Hit Registration (They have been working on this for a while now and it still needs more work)
  • Better Role Warfare (They have already acknowledged this and have even said that they want to work it into CW as a specific match type but at the moment its just an idea that has no form)
  • Better New Player Experience (This is one place that I believe they need a LOT of work to be done)
  • PVE or Single Player experience (while I would like to see this I believe that this can wait for now)
Since last November (I think) PGI has been much more responsive to the community. They have added a content, They have revisited systems that need work, they have done a MUCH better job of keeping to the timelines that they set for themselves and for us. Overall I believe that they have done a MUCH better job in the last 8 to 10 months and I'm happy with their progress. To keep this up they need funds. Releasing Mech packs has proven to be a good way for them to keep the income flowing. Fair enough. Complaining about them trying to keep the doors open and the game running is idiotic, as all businesses need to do this. Your post really comes across as nothing more than a troll post from someone that is angry that they are not listening specifically to your voice/wants/needs.

Why should we listen to you?

If anything is going to be the coffin nail, its going to be steam.

I tend to agree
I see a big cut in PGI cash flow and not enough new people to sustain it

I'm willing to give them benefit of doubt... IF:
  • Proper tutorial / training mode.
  • Newb sand-box (farm-proof)
  • Newb incentification program aside from the cadet bonus.
If we think this community can be harsh and unyielding... Opening MW:O up to Steam without necessary newb training wheels is like chumming waters for sharks.

I understand they need money and I appreciate the struggle of running a business, but their prices are honestly outrageous, especially when they've come out with 6 different mech bundles in 1 year. I think they would do better to sell each variant for $5 so a pack can only be as expensive as $60. Hell even $7 per mech is fine. More people will buy mech packs as a result. I want an executioner, but I will have to spend $55-$120 for one until it comes out for MC and I'll still probably have to spend $30 on MC for just ONE variant. I really don't get their logic behind the pricing. Those who spend the $120 per pack are simply making up for those of us who can't afford $120 every 2 months. A la Carte is a joke. You're paying $20 extra (in value $10/variant for 3 variants) so you don't have to spend $60-120 just to get one chassis you really want. I know the game is free but man I still think their prices are unfair and they might actually make more money if they'd make the preorders/al la carte a bit cheaper. I care about this game and want it to succeed, but I can't support it with money, because in my opinion, the product is simply not valuable enough to be sold at such prices and I don't even make enough to begin with. Even if the product is simply having this game continue for a couple more years, still not worth. I hardly play anymore as it is.

Hell they don't even need to drop the package prices. They could drop a la carte prices to $25 per chassis and exclude all the extra crap they throw in with the bundles (Paint/camo patterns, Premium time, etc.) so you only get the 3 variants of that mech and no extra stuff. They would make more money because poor losers like me can actually afford a new executioner and throw money at them. I don't want faction content and extras.

And an afterthought, the prices might be a bit intimidating to new players. I know preordering mechs isn't P2W, but to a new player it might seem that way especially for the prices they ask. They could be losing players because the guy who spend 240 on the masakari pack just made some newbies rage quit in his Timberwolf Prime. I know we're trying to fix this with the community champion mech loadouts, but still.

Love it or hate it, slow production is better then no production.

I may not throw big money in every day, but I'd like to think the money people throw in is being used to make the game... well better then worse. Slow production right now may mean they are taking the Steam issue seriously enough to make sure it won't auto fail. The lack of NPE was bad, and is still an issue. Maybe that's what the chunk of their crew is working on, thus the apparent lack of development elsewhere. That's my hope anyway.

This post and this post sums it up pretty well.

As for their progress, it's not good enough because it's incredibly slow and PGI often makes terrible decisions when changing or adding anything and it ends up creating a bunch of other problems. PGI has also been known to break their promises with numerous examples in the past, or they'll say something like "yeah we want to work on the mech tree eventually" for the 5th time and then proceed to ignore it for months on end again. PGI makes vague promises for crap that never gets worked on and people line up to shovel out hundreds of dollars for mech packs while over a year later the mech lab UI is finally being worked on a bit more so that it's not a pile of garbage.

remember: PGI bought everything out of IGP's hands. im sure that was not cheap.
also: since then, map development and many more things got better and better and better.

its a long road to go but its not possible to do without money.
MC, premium time etc aint paying it all.

Considering how many things there are to buy in the cash shop, how terrible of a business model is that if only new mech packs are what make PGI decent money? Maybe they should stop reaming people in the ass with overpriced content if the issue is that they need more money.

Not an excuse for their shoddy work, also the map development has been mediocre at best with all efforts focused on CW maps that largely suck anyways and the public queue gets completely ignored for months in the meantime as far as any new content.

P.S: It's nice to see a bunch of butthurt apologists reporting the thread into oblivion because it hurts their feelings, keep proving my point fellas!
