I'm really happy to see that the champion mehs are getting some attention. Hopefully they will get new players familiar with the best roles for each chassis. In that spirit I have a suggestion to help new players figure out which mechs they want to play.
I'd like to see a new description added to the trial mechs that gives players some idea of how they are intended to be used. When they mouse over a mech, instead of the usual screen with the hardpoints, arm movement diagrams, etc. they should see a box telling them some basic strategies and gameplay tips.
An example from another thread (using the current BJ-1 champion):
The BJ-1 carries the AC/20. The most powerful single shot in the game. It also packs 3 medium lasers for backup, and jump jets for extra mobility.
Strengths:
Fast moving, and nimble.
Jump jets help to clear small buildings and obstacles.
Powerful weapons with high mounts to take advantage of cover.
Weaknesses:
Close range weapons.
Limited ammo for your AC/20.
Low armor and an XL engine make it relatively fragile.
Strategy tips:
Focus on hit-and run tactics. Hang back in cover with the bigger mechs on your team. When the enemy is engaged with your tougher teammates, use your mobility to hit their weak points and then fall back before they can return fire. Don't try to go 1 on 1 with an opponent, you don't have the armor for that.
