The new Mechlab feels like a step backward, like now there is a major learning curve to putting together your 'mechs. All the tabs are hidden in awkward positions and it feels rough transitioning between locations on the 'mech to customize. Trying to take out a 'mech into the testing grounds was a hassle in of itself! The old setup allowed easy selection of each individual part of the chassis and the large grid that accompanied it allowed a feeling of selection right into the 'mech. Granted the new layout allows a similar flavor but it just feels way too different to be considered effective. Also now everything is darn near impossible to read. The way the Mechlab is on non-public-test versions is fine just the way it is, if it must be changed, maybe make it prettier, but don't switch the whole thing around to the point even beta testers (myself included) feel alienated by it.

It is not fine the way it is! The new mechlab does show promise, but we have to get the basic tenets of what we want across. In my opinion, this public test is going to go a long way to improving MWO.
