We know aim bot exists. Wall hacks and radar derps.

Sometimes though the devs win :)

I'm really liking the occasional anti-piracy goodness some brilliant devs are putting in. The one in Batman: Arkam Asylum that got people to report *themselves* was particularly brilliant.

The problem is with putting in those sneaky little tricks is that it sometimes bugs and triggers on legitimate copies of the game. Hits a little closer to home for me as a good friend of mine had his copy of Serious Sam 3 act as though it was pirated even though it was purchased and he had the receipts to prove it.

Anti-cheat systems are complicated to perform well, even as the recent release of GTA-V is proving (if the rumors are to be believed) with Single Player Mods getting accounts banned in the Online mode. Instant, automated repercussions like some of those listed in the article are a loaded gun, amusing to think of pirates and cheaters getting their due but puts those caught in the crossfire in a situation of guilty until proven innocent -sometimes without recourse- and either punishes legitimate players or leaves paying customers with a purposely broken product.

Edit: Serious Sam 3 had an unkillable Red Scorpion appear at the start of the first level and chase you until it killed you in pirated copies of the game, making the game impossible to play.

Good video, ha!

I just got accused of being a cheater while playing the tournament.

I was absolutely gobsmacked.

The guy said 'Look at the video' or some like that crap.

Whatever. false accusations pisses me off, like what are you thinking?

I am playing the Atlas since CB. I have made a report of it anyway. I am not sure what i should do.

Ignore it? One ear in and the other out?

Perhaps i should be more like you, care less about these accusations.

Best way to deal with a cheater - quite a few youtube videos of people going out of their way to make cheaters pay in GTA5 as well

Ya they got ways to catch cheaters, really. In another game I seen they do system wide announcements of cheaters being banned to every player. "so and so has been banned" on every players screen.

Not something I would like to see in Mechwarrior because of the sim and immersion and all that but the name and shame is a deterent and educational for those that think cheating may be a good way to go.

Im not some control freak either I just dont like good games completely ruined or the abusive nature of some cheats I have seen.

Rage Hacker is one of the most accurate terms for anything I have seen and its surprising who the guys doing it are I think.

I think competitors are a large source of hacks also.....

One last thing. The possibility that a game would want to ban players so they have to rebuy all their gear or what ever isnt completely out of the question.... Im just a player and just saying.

Seriously, nothing is a finer compliment in gaming, than when someone is so shocked/amazed/stupefied by your skill or something that you did that they have to resort to accusing you of hacking or cheating.

Honestly, in every game with multiplayer that he has played, the Space Pope has taken hack or cheat accusations to be the best indicator of when he is reaching a decent skill level.

It's just like competition in real life, if you are doing so well that someone has to "grasp at straws" or make baseless accusations to try and explain how you could beat them, then you are clearly in whole other skill bracket.

I used to be able to hit lights in mid air with my twin gauss catapult, got accused of aimbotting once. That was before the gauss change adding the chargeup. Can't do it much anymore, but I'm hesitant to call anyone out on aimbotting. Some people are just really good shots.

Yeah, one of my friends was over at my house one day and we were playing an FPS and he would do like a 70-90° turn and knock someone down with a headshot sometimes before I even saw him aiming at it. Some people need aim bots, some people are just twitchy like that.

Key word here is sometimes. If he does that all the time every time he is botting for sure.

If he is doing that to win matches systematicaly he is botting. etc.

Many wont have aim bots on until they need a win etc.

They will also shut them off when the win assured.

This is a huge discussion on every game forum to one degree or another. Im glad to see it here just for awareness sake if nothing else.

Also players can almost never be sure if another player is botting or not, although there is obvious botters/wall hackers to. The game staff that are in charge of such things can though and thats what counts.

Anyway dont be afraid to call attention to a potential botter. But also never troll legit players...

Difficult to prove people are hacking in MWO. I'm of the opinion, if the hack has been built some low lifes will play with them.

The sometimes was that he was able to identify and shoot at something as I'm still processing what he saw. Other times I saw it. He consistently head shot things basically on a snapshot. And he was playing on my computer meaning he didn't have an aim-bot installed.

Only been called a hacker in MWO once, which is funny because I'm a mediocre player - better than the average pug but not the level of super meta tryhards. I just had a good game.

Though in my short time playing WoW, I did fish "The One Ring" out of a river and equip it. Some idiot followed me around for twenty minutes shouting in local and public that I was a hacker. He finally quit when enough people spammed back that it was a legit item.

I'd still like to see announcements of banned hackers, simply because it shows that the developers are actually responding to reports and taking action. I've played in games where they refused to ban anyone (especially those who paid).
