I've started playing my Misery again and using it to grind out some bills. I like the sturdiness a lot, and once I get the hang of things I'm sure it'll be a great 'Mech.

I've been trying to figure out what exactly I want to equip it with, I've seen "the 40" build on Meta Mechs. Is this a decent build? Is there something more user friendly or more effective you would recommend instead.

Here are some builds to consider from mechspecs.com.

I'm currently using this build as I run mine through Basics and Elite.

I've got quite the oddball build with my Misery.

Despite the strange composition, this build is quite effective in a brawl. LB and ASRM6 freck face up close and the PPC either gives me long ranged punch or acts as a sledghammer against armor in a brawl. The Medium lasers aid the two primary brawling weapons with some more focused damage.

Not nearly as heat-neutral as some builds, but this is a very effective build in my opinion. LPL for longer-range, MPL dual-fired for close-range, and AC/20 for close-in brawling.

Edit if smurfy doesn't work:

AC/20 (5 tons ammo, 1 ton can be removed for an extra DHS)
4 MPL (arms)
1 LPL (CT)
Endo-Steel
STD 300 Engine
6 extra DHS (4 in RT, 2 in engine)
55 Firepower, 35% efficiency

I think smurfy is broken for me, can't view loadouts.

I currently use dual PPCs, ac20 and 1 mlas on mine, planning to change it later.

I'm still fond of the 4 Large Pulse Laser build. All in the arm high points (grouped 2 left and 2 right) so you can poke or shoot up to higher ground. And most battles are fought inside of 500 meters anyway. The lower burn time on the pulse also means you have less face time. Its a good build for beginners to practice with.

I am very fond of the AC20 + 2 LPL + ML loadout. I don't really like PPC's, so the pulse lasers work better for me, and one pulse laser in the torso makes you an effective zombie, which comes uo very often in the Misery.

Looks like everybody gave the recommendations I would have given. Play around with it though, you never know what you might like! Just because it's "meta" doesn't mean it's good for you. :)

I think my Misery is one of my favorite 'mechs ever. Some of the best money I've ever spent on this game.

I run 2 LPL, 2 MPL, and an AC/20 and I love it. I usually prefer heat efficiency over firepower but I love this build. You have to use the LPL sparingly when you get into a brawl but still, it's pretty awesome.
