well to have a bit more cash injected via existing mechs instead of making something new and different....

Ah, very true. I forgot about that. Even if they remove the LAA it'd make the SRM arm fixed too and remove the best part of using it. Curses!

Archer (not possible)
Warhammer (not possible)
Marauder (not possible)
Hatchetman
Champion
Axman
Bushwacker
I am sure I missed some, but the list is waning. I am happy with the lineup and I think it already is (correct me if I am wrong) the biggest mech lineup of any electronic game.
I am sure Alex can do wonders for some (all) of the mechs that I wasn't overall impressed with from post 3050 TROs but I am no longer sure if it's necessary.
Innersphere has a plethora of choices and the Clans have an optimized lean and mean lineup. If they said they were done for now, I wouldn't be upset.

Either that, or a 4 mech thank you gift for buying both Resistance top tiers.
In either case, I wouldn't go out of my way for a them.

I feel a bit bad about doing it to one of my current Panthers, but with the new one, I can ignore MGs. Just run 2SRM4s, some JJs, and the largest STD engine you can mount. It should do close to 130kph.
Maybe for s&g when it releases for C-Bills.

this would be a grand idea.
So if One got Zeus pack and Wolfhound, one gets the bonus Panther. Grasshopper plus Crab gets the Enforcer. I do like that. You should PM or Tweet it to Russ.

I can't say any of the mechs are truly exciting, and to be honest I'm reluctant to buy anything until they make the game more playable, but I suppose for most people $4 per mech would be worth it if only for spare parts and engines.
won't be able to ac20. Only will have 9 crits in the LA.

Me really happy with that ENF! Want!
The other 3 will be meh (but let's see thier quirks)
edit, Wtf!, I've just read that enf won't have JJ..... but WHY????
because ac20 and 4 lasers and super high engine cap. So you have to give up something. In this case it's JJs and Arm Reflex.

Enforcer with AC20 will work. Nothing new..but OK.
Grasshoper ..we ll see. Seems OK.
Zeues...depends on the ability to put an AC20 or not.....
Why does the ac20 matter? It won't be able to, BTW. And won't need to. None of the current Zeus do. What one can expect, is massive armor quirks. Add that to an ac10/LB-X, 3x SRM4/6 and some lasers, and it will be fine. Heck, I rock my 6S now, with a lot less firepower.

I do think the Enforcer not being able to jump will be a problem, but it is a Yen Lo Wang with more lasers. It probably cannot aim the arms side to side, so hopefully it gets a wider torso twist angle to compensate like the Wang does. However, that also means you never have to worry too much about convergence on the lasers as well.
I like ballistics, and I may be weird, but my favorite is the AC-10 as it is the most versatile of the auto-cannons. Another gun armed Zeus will suit me fine.
You and me both. I love my ZEU-6S already, but always wanted more missile slots. I Pack an ac10 on mine, so the second ballistic was never used anyhow. But to pack an AC/10, 3x SRM4 and some lasers? That will work for me.
zagibu, on 12 May 2015 - 11:48 PM, said:
No reason why it would be missing the LAA. Only packs a UAC and a single ballistic hardpoint. No other ZEU- has it removed.

Where to start. Only one that I think is viable enough is the Zeus. Hadn't noticed the Enforcer not having Jump Jets; which is strange in of itself. The 5S is a variant I'm going to love having in my arsenal.
It's possible to do this mod:
AC/10, LA; Ammo x2 (AC/10), LL; Ammo x2 (AC/10), RL; 2 Med. Lasers, LT; 1 Med. Laser, CT; x3 SRM 4, RA; x4 Ammo (SRM), RA.
As for the Hopper, well, judgment will be pass once I get it.
PNT-10P, i read about this variant, sounds kinda of odd to run a Panther with Ballistics. Then, again, it just might prove fun. If one is clever enough, an argument could be made for an AC/5 variant of this `Mech. Maybe.
As for the Enforcer, I'm thinking not having Jump Jets might kill this `Mech before it even gets to us. However, IMO, they should have made it an Energy and Missile variant with Jump Jets instead. If I miss my guess, they're trying to make up for the god-awful 5P.
The Enforcer can't jump. But then it also can mount a 350XL engine. Of course, hard to pack an ac20 if you do that, but sword and board is the preferred way to go these days anyhow (soulless and boring, IMO, but I don't write the Meta)

Enforcer I really liked. Even named the D® variant Callahan. (Dirty Harry!). Didn't like my P model so much. See how they qurk new one.
Grasshopper. GAWD. I am struggling to get this guy to work for me. I felt it was the perfect storm of size agility and beam points. It just has a quantum singularity in the ct every time I take it out. It just doesn't feel nimble enough. I get MUCH better results out of my Sparky in a lower tonnage slot. 4th variant appears to be more of the same.
Zeus. As a HUGE endorser of mixed builds I run my 6S® with lbx-10, lrm 15, 3mlas and tag. I feel the new guy will eclipse it. Part of the problem being that more smaller launchers out peforms less numerous larger launchers. (counter intuitive). Workable in any case.

The other dont seem to bring anything interesting, unless that Zeus can go AC20 (probably not)

Yeah, I'd love it if they would stop with the mech packs and new chassis after R2 and W3. Maybe W4 to give clanners a few more choices. We have plenty of mechs now, and I don't really want to jump ahead in the timeline. 3050ish is a good, solid era with plenty of mech and weapon choices. PGI needs to find another way to monetize the game that will provide new improved content instead of more and redundant mechs.

That said, the additional variants are welcome. The Panther seems like a terrible idea on paper at least. The others are OK. Nothing that makes me think that I want to spend more money to upgrade Resistance II.

Aside from the Zeu-x I don't really like the Zeus since I'm not a Steiner fan. And I was never a Kurita fan, either, so the Panther similarly leaves me a little cold (especially since a ppc means a lot less in MWO than it meant on TT).
Whatever variety they add is just not enough to interest me unless an unexpected build shows up on one of them that gets my attention (similar to the ac/20 BJ-1 that captured my heart).
Edit: I should add that I do like playing my Zeus chassis since they have such insane durability quirks. It's one of very few tanks still in the game.

The last time they did this kind of a thing, they were unique paintjob "hero" type variants that also had some extra c-bill earning attached to them. This time it's just variants that you'll be able to buy later.
To each their own, but none are that awesome that I'm going to shell out extra cash for a pack I'm not really interested in, just for the sake of ordinary variants.

If they gave the extra chassis something like +30% or more to c bills then I would suddenly be extremely interested in owning them and finding reliable builds for farming C bills.
