Just throwing out an idea that I have had...
May or may note be feasible on PGI's end...

The idea is players to able to save and replay an entire match from spectator view. This is not the same as video recording but basically recording match output from the game engine's data.
I get the feeling cryenqine's spectator mode is already doing something similar.

Cheats are hard to detect but there are often tell tale signs from their game play that is simple not human like.

May games in the past had this feature.
Eg. Ace Combat, X-Wings games... Street Fighter 4... Even to some extent Titan Fall's kill cam...

Basically this could also be a premium feature for players.
Now if you suspect a player is cheating, you can reply the entire match from his perspective.
If you have good finding, you can now submit replay ID to PGI to perform their own independent investigation.
Cheating confirm by PGI and offender gets Banned.

This is the deterrent, cheat in the game... People can review what you did and you will get called out.

On the other hand it would be a cool feature see how the legit pros play and how they wreck mechs in game.
