Whenever the UAC5's jam they appear to be destroyed by being highlighted red. I blew off an enforcers arm, which happened to coincide with the time it jammed. Looking at the weapon in the top right corner highlighted red, it appeared that it was destroyed. The tricked me into believing I had defeated the enforcer, and got me killed in the process. Which brings me to the question - Why the heck would I even know my enemy's weapon jammed? Jams are nonelectrical, and unless a Mech has x-ray vision (The jammed weapon was not visible to my mech) and can see through solid rock to spot the jam there is no way I should know the UAC5 is jammed.
Basically I don't want to see UAC5s being reported destroyed when jammed.

So by you misreading the damage schematic of your enemy combatant in a match, you died because you were too focused on his weapons and not his most damaged armor sections? Did I get that right? Does it matter if you can see or not see an enemy Mechs weapon jammed in the display of your HUD? No... the only thing that should matter is which part of that Mech you need to take off before killing it.
This is not a bug, this is not some weird freak occurrence, but actual coding of the game. Working as intended, as folks say.

???
I'd be focused on the enemy at hand rather than thinking and looking at their loadout in combat

I understand the orig post.
Sometimes it happens that you let go disarmed mechs to focus on more important targets.
Jammed weapons should not be shown to the opponent due to the fact that someone could assume that this target hast no ammo left or that specific weapon is destroyed.

lol sounds like you were just being kinda dumb about it.
Keep your rude comments to yourself. Wise guy, you go blow off an enforcers arm exactly when the mech jams and tell me that doesn't get you killed. Last thing I need is a sticked enforcer locking onto me, causing me to be lrmed............. See the thought pattern.
In this case it wasn't that I assumed the mech was disarmed and was going to leave it, it was that I wanted it dead because it was alone, appeared disarmed and could possibly keep a lock or spot me revealing my damaged center torso. He was about 220 m away just enough to make the trip worth it. Unfortunately he was just jammed and blew out my CT unexpectedly.

This is one of those "fringe cases" where a lot of things have to come into play to make it an issue but yeah, showing on the weapon read-out that a gun is jammed makes little sense in any case.

Jammed weapons should go a different color all together. Though I don't consider a weapon "destroyed" until the part of the mech that holds it is gone. For safety.

Good players dont go for unnessesary kills, they take out the threats and constantly reprioritize. An unarmed mech (all weapons destroyed) is not a high priority and means that the next target should be focused. Once all priority targets are taken out, then you can return to the remaining without weapons or legged behind cover (thus unable to shoot you).
In the case of the OP, a mech with a jammed weapon looks like a mech with a destroyed weapon. Therefore the priority was incorrectly rewarded to other targets. A colour difference between Destroyed (red) and jammed (orange or yellow) would be great.

hmm uac right arm, *destroys left arm* "yes its disabled!"
and secondly, that uac is "not functioning" and therefore it makes sense your mech gets confused

I've done this before as well. Crit a Hellbringer's right torso, see the two UAC's go red, and then decide "Okay, well, he's pretty much neutered, let's find a bigger threat now."
... then ten seconds later you're getting pummeled by the same Hellbringer with two operational UAC's. It's a bit misleading, indeed.
