Yes... after the 25 cadet matches, new players should get their choice of a chassis either light, medium heavy or assault.. get 3 mechs variants of that chassis (non-hero or champion) for them to use and level...would help them greatly

Probably the only thing i can come up with, that could be easily (at least i think so) fixed, but isn't.

Yes, yes, I know, it might seem trivial compared to how poorly designed CW is, weapon power creep. ELO, Hit Reg.
but I really loath its current look with a passion, it doesn't see light of day now they are all mastered, it will be the mech I remove if I ever need bays and can't be arsed to buy new ones.
They took its sleek pot bellied powerhouse look, and nerfed it harder than a clan laser Alex totally dropped the ball on this one, and the 3d modelers managed to make his idea of a BM look even worse, gone was the elegant Tomcat like cockpit, and in was farmer giles flat greenhouse, there is nothing in the model that look even similar to the orginal look apart from it has legs and arms, it should be abolished.
Then on top of that, as if to laugh at the community, they made the hero so bad, with such terrible camo, they must have been drunk , I tank that thing in medium mechs
I loath it, had I known how bad it was going to look I would never have bought the top phoenix package

Their decision for ghost heat and quirks that is pretty much it.
I found a loop hole around your 1 word thing.

If quirks supported and were limited to the stock loadouts there wouldn't be nearly as much whining.
Like say the thunderbolt 9S. Stock it only has one ERPPC. Consider that it's main weapon, apply really good quirks to it and lock out the quirks if you put on more than one.
Then quirk it's stock medium lasers, machine guns and SRM6. As long as this weapon configuration exactly as it is is on the mech, the quirks apply. Sure, you can customize the loadout if you wish but if you do you lose all the quirks. Engine, ammo, etc doesn't matter so you can still customize other aspects of the mech.
If the quirks were strong enough it would be a good mech and true to the lore.

.PGI could have picked Unity, Source 2, Unreal Engine 3(4), or others... but decided on CryENGINE... which is one of the hardest Engines to program and engineer when compared to the other three I just mentioned.
The only difference is that CryEngine has the lowest Royalty Fees compared to the others (if any at all). It was the cheapest way to go... and it has COST PGI money in the long haul with multiple programmers come and gone and problems that will never go away(looking at you Mr. Game HUD that kills everyone's Frames per Second and CPU Cycles.
Small Studio PGI is still trying to figure the game engine out (since the original programmers have left PGI... hard to relearn what was done in the beginning). PGI is now toying with the idea of falling Trees? REally? After 3 years of the game out now they are going to try that out?
I have the same computer since I played this game (Jan 2013).... I originally had settings on all Medium..... Now I have everything on LOW... and I get the same Frames per second I did back in 2013 with settings on Medium..
I have never played a game where every patch makes the game look Worse... perform worse... to the extent that my settings are worse than when I first played the game.. It would not matter if I upgraded my GPU since the game is CPU heavy because of horrible coding.
I keep thinking that if PGI had picked a different Game Engine... sure their profits would have taken a hit... maybe this would not be a Free to play game but a 20 dollar to activate game..... but the game would be so much better.
