Does everyone here have collective amnesia or something?

KGC-000

Has 6 ballistic slots, also 5 more tons, also if you wanted to be completely silly (and I love popping these guys like water balloons) unlike the Mauler you can actually run an XL engine and have more than 4 AC 5s or similar sized ACs.

I swear these forums are baffling, people think a 95 ton mech with oodles of energy hardpoints for clan energy, ballistic slots, TBR tonnage, a crap ton of DHS, 71 kph, JJs and MASC is going to suck - but a 90T IS mech with a 325 engine cap is somehow going to be a better multi-ballistic mech than the 100T King Crab we already have?

The Mauler will do a few things better than the Crab, but boating lots of smaller ACs isn't it.

Thank you, Ultimatum.

Still trying to figure out what the Mauler's supposed to do leagues better than the Krab does... Yeah, I get it, closer/tighter ballistic hardpoints, but dang son...you do make sacrifices to get them.

I really don't get everyone dismissing the Executioner out of hand, either. It's got over thirteen potential hardpoints, most but not all of them E for easy boating, enough tonnage to actually run a cannon somewhere, six less tons of oversized engine, jets and M.A.S.C., and somehow it's going to be worse than the Garfayle?

Dude... Even on TT I always wondered why someone would want to take a Gladiator?

Because in TT there were scenario's and situations where "Speed" mattered.

This game it doesn't, nor does it make you harder to "Hit"

The gladiator was a dream mech for it's ability to jumpjet and speed to get into position with your primary vanguard. Normally only most mediums and lights were able to secure those positions. But having them face off against a Gladiator was a whole different story.

Also in TT you had this crazy thing called: Melee.

The Mauler's charm is probably 90% related to its iconic-ness, rather than its effectiveness.

And it has almost exactly the same free space as a King Crab, when moving at the same speed (due to lighter engine required for the same speed), but without the drawback of ridiculously low slung wide apart arms carrying your Ballistics.

KGC's "low slung arms" aren't really a big problem because they sit near the cockpit. They are however, spread some distance apart like you said.

Probably.

It's also why there is so much difficulty trying to have clear, rational conversations on these boards.

Most of the coversations go like this:

OP: Which has more sugar, Beer or Wine?

Responses:

A] BEER IS THE BEST BECAUSE IT IS BEER!!
B] No Wine is better because it is RED and WHITE and REFINED!
A] No, Mr.B, you are a JACKASS, how can you not LOVE BEEAR>?

OP: Um, guys, it's not about which is better, which one contains more sugar?

A&B] OP We don't care about your meta-tryhard dieting BS, we love BEER & WINE!!!

I'm just glad we are getting another 90 ton option. Nothing against the Highlander, but I am very excited to work this in to my drop deck here and there.
