I am on the fence with resistance wave 2 mostly due to the nerf/shift away from energy boating

edit: its the comment they made in: http://mwomercs.com/...may-19th-patch/

"The Quirk pass for this patch is geared toward encouraging better loadout diversity for a few energy-focused 'Mechs which have been burning through the battlegrounds lately."

KEY WORD HERE BEING DIVERSITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are all energy with the exception of a few

what if these mechs are burning through the battlegrounds

am I overreacting or was this just the STK/SCR/TBR

I say go ahead don't let PGI say what to buy with their nerfs/buffs play what you want.

I would say go with your feeling.
I like the pack but I'm not sure I want it because there is too much laser build.
I mean, out of 16 build only 4 can have ballistic.
Don't go with the quirks and all, they will always change anyway.

The nerfs are for quirks for specific 'Mechs, not energy weapons. Big difference.

Don't think of it as an energy nerf, think of it as a buff to everything else.

The Mauler has everything else.

I would not buy it because of the constant nerfs.

I'd wait for the quirks and see. That's what I'm doing. I thought PGI was serious when they said they would make a best effort to balance the mechs in the Resistance 1 pack, but I feel like they've proven me wrong on that front. None of them have really made a splash, or even seen serious use. I played my panthers, enforcers, grasshoppers, zeus', and my free king crab, and had fun with them, but my firestarters, ravens, and clan mechs were clearly superior for pretty much every role. I even bought the urbanmech collectors pack just to have a fun, odd little mech to mess around with once in a while. I have fun in my non-serious mechs, but I think I am good on "fun" mechs. I want more mechs that are serious competitors...

I don't see anything in Resistance 2 that looks like it would be even remotely competitive. The hard point locations on everything but the crab seem rather limiting being at chest level or lower, so no hill peeking for these mechs. They seem mostly decidedly symmetrical so I guess you could go with an asymmetrical build and corner peek, but that's about it, and none of the Resistance 2 mechs, including the light, have any jump jets. That could all change if they are given good quirks, but it's doubtful at this point IMO. I have zero faith PGI will give me the type of mechs that I want, so I'll reserve my judgement and my money until they post the quirks. I fully understand that they may change them in the future, but so be it. That goes without saying for every mech in the game. I'd rather buy something I enjoy now, and don't use a lot later on, then buy something I elite every single mech for, and then end up shelfing immediately, hoping one day in the far future that PGI will re-visit and buff.

People are making a big deal over the nerfs because they 'hurt' the two best mechs in the game. Having a slight dps nerf wont hurt those mechs or others due to their survivability.

Heavy with ecm, to be honest we have too much ecm in game and they do need a trade off.

In all honesty, Resistance 1 didn't make as much of an impact as I thought it would, but I very much enjoy the Enforcer and the Grasshopper. They're enough of a game changer to me to find them fun and enjoyable.

Even without quirks, the Black Knight and Mauler look vicious and formidable, so just imagine what they'll do -with- quirks.

EDIT: Adding to my post

The problem with the Zeus is that is has the unfortunate situation of being an 80-ton Assault. Its 5 tons too heavy to be a Heavy, and 5 tons too light to be a formidable Assault. I've always seen 80-tonners being the odd man out because of this. They're like the 20~25 ton lights of the assault world: too lightly armored with not enough firepower to justify the tonnage of taking one.

As for the Grasshopper, its a different kind of heavy. People bash it because of how tall it is, but if you actually see one on the battlefield, the thing is actually pretty spindly and lanky, making it pretty hard to hit. This, coupled with the variant that can travel 92kph with the max engine size in it, makes for a deadly skirmisher. 6 medium pulse lasers on that thing and you've got a semi-slow moving light trapped in a heavy's body (with the armor of a heavy), with the firepower of a medium. To me, its a match made in heaven. For others, I guess it just wasn't what they wanted.

The Enforcer...Now, this thing is beautiful. its everything good about a Centurion, with everything good about a Shadowhawk, rolled into a single mech. Anyone who loves both the Shadow Hawk and the Centurion will absolutely adore the Enforcer.

Panther is meh. Plain and simple.

Thats my breakdown of Resistance 1. You can take it into consideration for Resistance 2 if you like, but honestly, like what Captain Planet keeps saying as his slogan: "The power is yours."

resistance 2 is an energy heavy pack... so it will be probably op for some time and then they nerf it when their sales dry

The IS mechs still have positive energy quirks, just less.

TW and SC nerfs were sort of misguided and should have targeted the twist rate first to take some edge off those mechs damage spreading.
But Clans were crying about the laser Stalker and IS crying about TW and SC laser vomit so PGI has reacted to what was cried about most.

Resistance Pack 2 you buy if you are a collector or for nostalgia.

Otherwise there is very little in that pack that will be so good that you need to buy it right now instead of waiting for CBill availability.
