No, but seriously - those of you who use a separated HOTAS setup, how fart apart do you space your throttle and stick? I'm getting ready to mount them on my desk and wondering what a normal "comfortable" distance is.

They have a 3' cable connecting them, so that's the max distance I can do.

Also: I am 30 years old and can't not giggle when I try to say "joystick." Is this normal?

i guess it depends on your shoulder width, id sit arms forward palms up and relax shoulders about there when comfortable. but be ready to move it. 3' is a bit far unless you are a the hulk.

Wish I could help you, Buckaroo, but I use a mouse/joystick and keyboard setup. That said, when it comes to finding a comfortable distance for you, it really depends on you. Even with stuff setup the way I always have it, it can be nice to move things around and give my hands a break or change of pace. I'd really recommend that you spend some time with them and see what feels good, but maybe try to give yourself some wiggle room for minor adjustments during long sessions.

I'd also say just put them about shoulder width apart. in terms of comfort you probably also want to mount them lower and not higher, or perhaps raise your chair higher if you can. I've been to many a LAN where we'd play for hours and I'd be in the Frankenstein position with my arms straight out on my mouse/kb, it ain't comfy.

you may wish to copy how many fighter aircraft are set up.... stick between the legs (you can stop giggling now) and throttle is is off to one side, resting under hand so to me moved with minimal effort...

What ever is comfortable for you. Sit there, in various positions, and start drinking. Start with a straight back, and full focus. If you can can still reach them while 10 beers down, slouched in your chair with your eyes running water, you're good to go.
