OK, I'm guessing that there will be an option to have your weapon system set to eith "Chain Fire" or "Group Fire." That being said, I'd like to see it taken one step further.

How about having INDIVIDUAL FIRETICS be able to be set group or chained. I don't believe this has been implemented in any MW games to date.

I believe there are MANY instances where an individual would want to set different TICS to different fire modes.

Example: If you are running two PPC's in a single TIC, you probably want them set to "Chain Fire" to help manage heat, cut down recycle times. But if you had, say 4 machine guns in ANOTHER TIC, you would probably want them to fire all at once, as theres no heat or recycle times to manage.

This is an awesome suggestion. I would love it if each group was specified to what I wanted it to do. Cuts it down to only having to change groups instead of changing firing methods too.

This is something that MW:O clearly needs in the future if they haven't implemented it already.
Furthermore we must be able to configure our weapons in the mechlab before the battle.

Imagine sorting out all those weapons on an assault mech that focuses on a bunch of lighter weapons instead of the big guns.
Anyone piloting such mech would take over half a minute to configure their weapons. That's unacceptable.

Scout mechs have it rough to without preconfigured weapon groups. They need to be on the front as fast as possible instead of tinkering with their weapons.

We have 6 weapon groups that they can be assigned to. Weapons can be in more than one group. I think that this can be done in the MechLab. This is based on posts not Beta.

Good suggestion, Poto, you have my full support. S uch firing mechanics is implemented in MWLL and it turned out to be extremely useful.

Aye. I've always been of the opinion that they need to let us set our firing mode on a per-weapon-group basis.

For added flexibility, give us Link Fire again too. Don't believe I've seen that in anything since MW2.

With enough TIC - six was mentioned you don't need chain fire at all.
For example the Dire Wolf Prime: while not available but with a lot of weapons:
1TIC 2 Large Laser left
2TIC 2 Large Laser right
3TIC 2 ACs
4TIC 2 Pulse Laser left
5TIC 2 Pulse Laser right
6TIC 1 LRMs

Stalker:
TIC 1 Large Lasers
TIC 2 LRMs
TIC 3 SRMs
TIC 4 Medium Lasers

You can fire multiple groups at the same time - with the right controller

Great idea, and absaloutely should be configurable in mechlab before game so it stores your preferences. Maybe let it be adjustable in game too if you wanted, no need to take out options when expanding a better option gives the player more choice.

It is actually possible in MW4 of all places. i think the command was Shift-C. it would place selected the group in chain fire mode.

this was different than placing the mech in chain fire with backslash ('\') (damn useless for anything other than single weapon boats).
but yes, +1!

if u watch the cockpit videos closely theres like 5 or 6 weapon groupings on the hud, i would hazzard a guess that chain and group fire will be an option

I am very interested in having a chain/group fire option added. That would provide tremendous flexibility in weapon configurations and heat management. From the user end, I think adding the two options (chain and group modes) above each weapon group on the MFD in the lower right of the mech would make weapon configuration easy.

They also need a way to lock a weapon down to keep it firing, such as firing as soon as it recover recycles for weapons such as the machine gun or small laser.

I like this - but just to make sure I understand what you are suggesting (since I am not familiar with 'TICs') this is what I am envisioning:

- 6 Weapon groups available (as shown in current videos)
- Each weapon can be in one or more groups
- Each group can be set to fire all at once (group fire) or cycle through the weapons within that group (chain fire)
- Each group can be assigned its own trigger / button
- All of this can be set up in the MechLab, or configured on the fly during a battle

Does that sound correct? Oh, I just thought of a couple more ideas:

- An option could be added to have a 'master' fire button - which could be switched between groups via other controls or could be set to 'chain fire groups'. This would mean the first time you fire it shoots group 1, then the second time fires off group 2, etc (skipping groups with no weapons in them).

- Another button / option could be set to "alpha strike" - fire everything you have (that isn't on cooldown)

im pritty sure this was in mechwarrior 4 as i remember being able to group each weapon by number up to 6 groups. also i remember chain firing with racks of LRM's. 1v1 i always won because they had no time between volies to shoot me back.

That is probably my latent memory kicking in then - played all the MW games from 2 through to 4:Mercs back in the 90s and early 2000s. I also went to the BattleTech pods at The Airlock last night with some friends, and those sims are heavily based on MW4 (though with only 3 fire groups).
