As I said, contact support@mwomercs.com and ask them directly, a LOT of us have and we've gotten multiple responses depending on who was answering.

General rule that PGI follows, if the player has a 0 ping, you can give their location because they never got INTO the drop in the first place, so they can't even reconnect like someone with a Disconnect for ping can do. Otherwise, you report them and that's all you do, no giving out locations for anyone with a ping or a Disconnect status.

I have and in all cases the responses are completely in agreement with the official Team Treason stance listed above. You simply are not allowed to transmit a teammate's location. There is no ambiguity on this.

Furthermore, you are also in error with regards to Zero (0) ping. While it is true that 0 ping represents a non-connect (rather than a disconnect) it still remains possible to connect and load into the game. Thus given the possibility that the player may yet join, you cannot betray their location either.

Even then, that is actively fighting. I get conquest. What I am talking about is the Skirmish mode where match only ends once everyone is dead.

No one is required to suicide themselves against overwhelming force. Since you can't really know if they participated in the fight, your only recourse is to report them to support if you wish. The support team can sort it out from there.

It's why I said from my own personal code of ethics.

And I would never ask them to commit suicide. I am asking them to continue to participate in the match in a meaningful way. Shutting down in a corner is about as far from participating as it gets.

As for reporting them? Hardly. It is a despicable and loathsome tactic but hardly raises to the level of GM moderation.

The easy solution if you are dead and don't want to wait 8-10 minutes for the match to end, hit Esc and pick the 3rd option in the list. Then you are free to start another match.

LOL THis comes up so often and the rules are so simple it amazes me that people still dont get it-

NEVER COMMIT TEAM TREASON, no matter how you feel about how the other player is playing the match. is that clear enough?

If you're panties are all in a bunch because you have to wait an extra "gasp" minute or 5 you have options-
'
.report the player for perceived misconduct
.go take a bio break, drink run etc...
.exit the match, select a different mech.and drop again(there are what 12 trial mechs, so you will always have something to drive if it's not your own mech)

whining about wasting time is like complaining about getting wet when you fall in the water, all of us should know that regular matches have a 15 minute timer and we accept that we possibly can play up to a full 15 minutes when we join the match, if you cannot fathom that simplicity, perhaps you need to go play a game with a respawn mechanic.

Just going to toss this into the conversation.

Shutting down and hiding in skirmish, or at the base in assault, is not always a **** move. I have, and have seen others do this, in order to set up ambushes or let a group of mechs walk by so that the player could start back up and hunt down a lone mech.

I would ask if this is the intent of the person shutting down, they tell their teammates what they are doing.

For example during an assault match on forest colony I was the last player left alive on my team. My Atlas had a crit torso, and would most likely lose a strait fight in the open. So I ran, ok plodded, back to the base and hid my mech behind the prefab buildings on the hill right behind the cap point, then shut down. When I saw the laser fence change color I powered up stepped out of cover and killed the mech trying to cap. This got my team the win.

remember not every one who is hiding shut down is a scrub. Just please tell the team your intentions.

dirus
whatever you're tactics are shouldn't matter if the are following the code of conduct and NEVER COMMIT TEAM TREASON. also telling them you're plan never works because the are already dead and don't care

Rule of thumb:

If you are hiding from the enemy and it isn't a tactic to lure them out, you're not playing it right.
