With LB-X and ammo switching, instead of trying to fiddle with ammo switching and whatnot, what if LB-Xs would simply be two separate weapons displayed as a single weapon in the MechLab?

So what players would see is an LB-X as usual with their current stats for tonnage and crits.

Then when we go to the Weapon Groups tab or in a match, there would be two separate LB-X entries, one for Slugs and one for Clusters. So then we'd simply need to mount the appropriate ammo and assign them to weapon groups.

And so to prevent a single LB-X cannon to fire slugs and clusters at the same time (being two weapons in one), utilize the code that forces Gauss to only fire two at a time to have a single LB-X alternate fire with slugs and cluster shot from a single weapon no matter what combo of weapon groups are assigned by a player and ammo carried.

After that then the devs probably just need to swap out the current C-ACs for the new LB-Xs.

Here's a quick mock-up on a single Ballistic mech: Posted Image
