As was speculated here http://mwomercs.com/...ntent-incoming/
I am assuming it is obviously mechcommander-like game.

Replace this view from Mech Commander 2:

Add appropiate UI to this and you are in Mechcommander territory, with spectator mode viewpoint game. Based on MWO mechs and tweaks on the engine.

(sorry for not-so-good snap, took it quikcly from Davion blues vid)

I always thought looking tournament pics, that this would make an excellent game in itself.

Anyways, assuming it is going to be Battletech in a way or another with Harebrained Schemes... what good can come out of it?

Possible benefits?

- We might get to benefit AI implementation HBS will need to create to make this sort of an game. If PGI can cook up a good deal with them, trade engine and models for their game for stuff (AI, vehicle models, maps...)
- The original brains involved in Btech are ever closer to MWO creative minds.
- Maybe a path to get new players involved in MWO, they play through their campaing and are revarded in the end one or more of the mechs they created in the PVE campaing, only they get to pilot it in first person. Awesome.
- They may need to bring up the graphical quality and they will have deeper pool of artists to work on this.

Possible downsides?

- They might need to develop stuff to engine to enable the other game to work better and if the other game should not make it out of the oven, it might be wasted devlopment time
- Big egos might collide

What do you think? What good can come of it?

I'd like to see and play tactical BT games like MC 1 and 2. And don't leave Alex Iglesias behind, please. I know it might not be possible but he's the (sole) reason I play MWO.

That is one spectacular leap of logic and faith

If it happened it could be cool though

"Harebrained tweeted a link to the Game Informer story shortly after it went up, which is no big deal, but then so did Russ Bullock, the president of Mechwarrior Online studio Piranha Games"

Either they are trolling us real hard or are super good buddies... or....

I hope for a new Mechcommander but it also could be a new Crimson Skies game.

"Ok, so someone started a thread about this exact topic five minutes ago. I'm starting a new thread with no new information, so we can speculate twice as much."

The question is... will this new MechCommander Online have decals before MWO? I should start a thread about that.

But that's MWO tradition by now.
TBR & SCR nerfs, how many topics?
Phoenix poll, how many topics?
Why CW is broken, how many topics?
The list goes on.
If you have not started a topic people are talking about in another topic at least once, you are not a true MWO player.

Actually it is China making islands and threatening anyone who comes near.

It's not sunny there I guess? 'cause seems like somebody is having a grumpy friday with no beers. Anyways I'd think it is not gonna be crimson skies... And in any case I think new MechCommander - like would be good for the franchise.

My city has more rain than anywhere else in my country. And my country is cold and miserable to begin with. And I don't drink.

'never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. '

I'd rather get a Turn-based game like Mechwarrior Tactics.. Just with MW:O art assets
I've always preferred Turn-based strategy over Real-time.

Actually that's pretty close to the truth.
I'm really bad at micromanaging and just making quick decisions. Which is why i prefer turn-based games where i can have more time to think, even when the turns are short.

To be perfectly honest, i was more excited for MW:T, than MW:O when they were both being developed and i've been in closed Betas of both. (Was part of the first 30 people that were invited to the Closed Beta in MW:T) And i really enjoyed it, but it went belly-up after ~a year of stagnation. I blame IGP

I've found that I prefer turn based over RTS because the AIs in RTS are dumb as bricks and you really need to micromanage them.
