C-bills are getting harder to pile up.

I never could make it work, but this was way way before quirks.
Its a brawler, built to brawl, I could never make it work after clans came.
I'd get into a fight, and pretty much instantly.. BAM!, there goes an arm, BAM! there goes a leg, BAM BAM dead.
Ended up selling it and playing Shadowhawks for a while, which even unquirked are 10x the mech.
Figured I'd try out the blackjack-Arrow, because that is the mech I always went to since day 1 trial BJ-1C, and still play it to this day, even in CW have had some monster runs with my BJ's.
IMO, just because I can't make the LDG work, doesn't mean its bad, its just bad for me.

The recent sale prompted this.
I have roughly 2k MC sitting around from when the last MC bonus event came up; mostly to get an Oxide and a Champion Jenner. Those purchases felt nice and fair for the enjoyment I got out of them.
Looking at the Clan Sale though, has me thinking. None of these mechs have any relevant bonuses to them; XP or CBills.
Why then, not make them even cheaper than the hero/champion sale? Give me a reason to actually want to use my weekend fun budget on this, and not a Sushi Buffet.
I'd like to pick up a few Warhawks for MC. At roughly 15USD each though? A little less inclined now.
It's always a question of time and money. Only each customer can answer that.

Fair enough. But, as with quirks on subpar mechs, make the option competitive.
Better your customer is willing to shell out more often than only hold out for packs that he/she may or may not personally like.

all other mechs C-Bills only (earning stuff is the main motivator to play excessively)
apart from that buying cockpit items to infuse my mechs with souls

Regular variants are simply "more reasonable" when bought with C-bills (including Clan Mechs) when you're not buying packs.
Champion variants are a wasted effort, since the bonus provided is useless unless you rely on the XP conversion. Unless it gains me C-bills, they are more or less worthless. Yes, they can provide a better set, but then again, a Mastery pack is technically more worthwhile (50% of the related chassis involved, on a "perma-discount"), so why would anyone literally bother with buying a regular mech with MC?
Besides, buying the related pack if possible with real money is usually CHEAPER than the heavier mechs that go on that "flash sale" discount (or any discount for that matter). MC is only useful for the mechbays otherwise.. which is much more important to horde when you're starting in the game.

This is exactly the point I'm trying to get at!
Why Indeed? Hence my suggestion to cut the prices down on them, massively!

I'll buy 30% bonus mechs.

So even if it is 1 out of 1000 that uses this option, this is still an easy win for that customer and PGI.
This thread does seem a bit small minded and speaks of insecurity by negatively pointing out how other customers and an establishment choose to conduct business especially. Some people do not spend money the same way as others, There are also people who can easily afford to buy something without even considering the impact. Now if we had to click through 2-5 more screens to see the c-bill price I would be the first in line and would not go to as much effort to hold my tongue.

The prices are likely hurting sales so I agree. They could probably triple sales of MC mechs if they were 1/3rd their current price. Even then they don't have sales often enough to wait for 1/2 price off the MC prices either.
I play so much I have earned 37 mechs with cbills and 3 heroes so maybe I'm just not like other people who have less time.

Whoever did this page did a good job.

It's one of the worst trade-offs in terms of MC to C-Bills. As stated earlier in the thread, you have to be allergic to the grind to have it be worth your money. Though I guess I can't say you're wrong if you have the money burning a hole in your pocket.

I don't understand what you're getting at with the first part of your post. Could you please elaborate? It doesn't seem to support or go against my post.
The second part of your post seems to imply the prices are fine, because some people can buy them. I could say that in itself seems small minded; as it seems to say that "Eh, as long as someone can potentially buy this, why bother changing it. Nevermind that the likelihood of people buying would be greater if we lowered the pricing."

This is actually a very good point and not something I'd really considered before. Thinking about my purchases I realise that the only occasions on which I've ever bought single variants have been when I've needed 3 of a given chassis, that the chassis in question didn't have an available mastery pack and that I wanted them there-and-then for whatever reason. Interesting.
Perhaps lowering the cost of standard variants to make them attractive would be both helpful for players who have very little CB to spend and might just also help with chassis diversity in-game.
As an aside, I don't think many people realise how awesome the mastery packs really are: I was very, very surprised when I learned that most of them contain the hero variant, champion variant and generally the best standard variant of a given chassis along with all the other goodies that come with them. Terrific value for money, which illustrates the OP's point.
This is actually one of those rare threads that merits consideration by PGI.

Again though, my point is why aren't the Standard variants for MC also reasonably good deals?

Same reason a pair of silver toe socks cost 2.99$ but a 3 pack cost $6.99. You are rewarded for buying more.
