So out of complete boredom, I googled Mechwarrior Online under the news tab and found this: Posted today

http://www.pcgamer.c...-old-franchise/

It may mean nothing, but it may mean something. It's curious Russ tweeted at the same time Harebrained did. I don't know the history of the publishers or developers, nor have I dug up the tweets for clarification. It's all speculation at this point, but I thought I'd share anyway. My thoughts are we've been asking for PVE since well, forever. Possibly a joint project between Harebrained and PGI to bring us PVE content?

Thoughts?

EDIT: Found another link on Russ' Twitter:
http://www.gameinfor...mson-skies.aspx

Mostly the same article, but this hints towards "It’s entirely possible that Weisman and Harebrained Schemes are looking to do something more strategic with the BattleTech property (in a 2012 AMA, Weisman said he’d love to return to a MechCommander style game)."
So in lieu of that... MechCommander: ETA, unknown ;)

I'm not even going to speculate. But I would really enjoy Mechwarrior PvE, solo and co-op.

Please let it be a Mechcommander clone with lots of strategy, upgrades, pilots and such....wish, wish, wish

Edit: ...and an intelligent hardpoint system not to mention. With todays technology they could make something really big, starting with one mech and pilot and progressing to a while company of mechs.

But i'm just speculating

Peace

Hurm.... PVE content made by one company using the pvp engine made by another company could be interesting. Splits risk and costs etc.
let's watch this space

I'll believe it when I see it, that being said I would enjoy playing some MechWarrior PvE solo and co-op.

I would actually hope for a turn based strategy game that's closer to the original BattleTech boardgame.
I would also like a MechCommander style game.

I doubt Harebrained will do a joing project with PGI. Whith PGI's current reputation within the general gaming community, Harebrained will steer away from them.

EDIT: I'd be happy with a good Crimson Skies game too.

I'm pretty certain it's not going to be a MechWarrior game.

If I remember correctly, Weisman does support MWO. A Harebrained MW game would potentially be the beginning of the end for MWO. I can't see them do that.
But as in my previous post, I'm pretty certain it is a seperate project.

If it's BattleTech than it will be more of a tactical game. Could be turn based (as they did that rather well with Shadowrun) or they might try a MechCommander style game.

Who knows, could be Crimson Skies too after all.

remember Hairbrained used to be Smith and Tinker, I doubt we will see a team up of PGI and HBS....again.

I could see them used what every is left over of tactics to make a mech commander type game. its what HBS has experience with after their work on Shadowrun. Though personally Im hoping for something using the Crimson Skys IP.

I really enjoyed the Shadowrun games so far, and looking forward to playing Hong Kong.

If that development team does something related to MechWarrior, they will definately have my attention. My dream project would be a MechCommander 3 with a Shadowrun/Xcom style turn based tactical combat system.

Use mwo assets top make a separate pve game maybe? Connect it to mwo via account data? Make it separate with actual R&R and mech destruction but since it's a separate game we wouldn't have to worry... ooo possibilities that a pure pvp game can't/has failed to do.

Yes, use MWO's assets, please! You can't replace Alex Iglesias!

I wish they just take care of the pve campaings for Piranha and they sell it separate as single player chapters or something like that. Not a complete whole new game.

Maybe a true, 3d representation of Battletech. ALA Megamech... with single player campaign, and multi player vs. Allow for DLC to be various Era's, and you could support the game for a good while.

I guess it will be earthdawn. It would fit quite well with the shadowrun engine.

I'm sure this is what we're all hoping for.... A crowd funded development to use PGI's resources to create a pve expansion of sorts. But what I'm reading from other posts Harebrained doesn't seem to be getting along with PGI. So maybe they've set their differences aside and found mutually profitable ground?

If that's not the case, and it turns out to be a whole new game, that would be trouble for MWO - taking away from their bottom line. More players playing a different BT game would subtract from the players playing MWO. Less players means less micro transactions. Less micro transactions means less profit... And let's face it less profit is bad for business.
