To be honest, I personally hope they go away from the mentality that LB-# X ACs are shotguns with cluster rounds exploding the instant they leave the barrel, mostly because it makes them horribly useless at any actuall effective range when it comes to crit seaking. You often just end up shoving it where the sun don't shine and pulling the trigger rather then using it as a crit seaker.

I just hope they make it so when you fire a cluster round it does what it's supposed to. Fly to a set distance from the target THEN detonate and spread out from there. That would actually let you use it with normal ACs as a one two punch I often use on my mechs, AC-10 to put hole, LB10-X AC to put cluster munitions inside the hole. It's scarily effective to boot as they both can work together to put holes in things if need be.

There is flechette ammo for regualr ACs as well (TT). It´s just not as effective as the LBX cluster ammo. Probably because that one realy does spread right after leaving the barrel and is more eyed towards shredding infantry.

Quoting from the ask the devs post on the front page:
Q: WIll we be able to switch between cluster ammo and slugs with LB-X autocannons? [DerMaulwurf]
A: We plan to have this functionality eventually, but currently it is not available. Who doesn't want lots of different Ammo types, right? [GARTH]

So there is still hope, not only for LBX ACs, but also all the rest.

I really hope dumping ammo is an option. I mean... Why keep ammo for a weapon that you no longer have? It's a risk I don't want to take.

only reason that comes to mind, cheaper repair/restocking bill at the end of the game.

of course, a option to take near the end of the round and your team is winning.

Either way on that point, it should still correctly be able to fire slugs too (function like a standard AC).

When a weapon has been damaged and can't be fired, dumping any remaining ammo for it can improve survivability.
