As pointed out many times it is a limitation of the engine. They could go faster, but they would have to give client side more authority, which in turn makes the game more vulnerable to client side exploitation. CryEngine is not forgiving in this aspect and even Cloud Imperium Games, who have former CryTek programmers working for them, have issues with this as has been pointed out by other posters.

You seem to have a need to attack PGI and the fact of the matter is they are a small studio, will limited staff and financial resources, who are the only ones who were willing to pick up the IP. It is impressive what they have done and are continuing to do with the assets they have.

It is not that PGI cannot make it happen, period. It is that PGI cannot currently make it happen while upholding their standards for game security. I find their current stance preferable to the alternative.

can't be assed to quote in the rest of the comments.
MASC can't go on any mech with a potential max speed greater than 129 kph (as I explained in one of the earlier replies), due to the working limit of roughly 172kph.

The flea will have a potential top speed of around 150ish,ruling it out.

Looks pretty vicious for a 25 tonner, even if no CT or RT hardpoints on any of them. I would definitely want this over the Dasher for next Clan light. Also no MASC or speed cap issue, either. :D


MUL and BTE list it as a 3052 mech, but SSW lists it as 3056. Hopefully it's the former instead of the latter, so that we have somewhat more hope for a second sort-of good Clan light (but still inferior to the Arctic Cheetah...but then again which light isn't?).

You seem to have the entirely inaccurate opinion that if mwo failed, anyone would pick it up.

No one wanted to pay for a standalone MechWarrior title before, which is why they went free to play.
No one wanted to pick it up for years and years.
And if the only commercial venture using the property in a decade or so failed, either due to not being economically viable, or due to imploding from a vitriolic player base like you buddah, that anyone would pick it up?

The only way this game gets better, or we see a sequel, or another game made, is for mwo to be successful, and if it does close, that it closes amicably.

Where's the love for the Dasher (Firemoth) in this thread? The clans need to fill the 20 ton slot. The Dasher would be a good match for a Locust. Those nice high weapon mounts spell good times. Tweak or just forget about MASC if its whats keeping us from getting this mech.

The Dasher would likely inherit the large arms issue of the Mist Lynx, given that the two mechs share some body parts. You don't need a "good match" for the Locust, the Arctic Cheetah will be superior to it when it arrives in July.

Also, the Moth actually surpasses the speed cap even without MASC (178 kph with Speed Tweak). Not gonna happen.

I know this sounds like a weird middle ground, but I always wondered if they could just hard lock mech speeds at 172. Then even if something with MASC would theoretically go over that speed, it would stop accelerating at that point. If they played it right the small mechs would still benefit from the bump in acceleration even if their top end didn't change much.

as usual pgi doesn't think and actually know if they can make good on what they promise before just throwing it out their to get more sales.

You know the flea was 2+ years ago right?
Pre Phoenix.
And they stopped working on it as it broke the game and got replaced with the Locust.
And on release would have been the original for mc, 2-4 weeks, then for c-bills, and would have cost pretty close to the Locust...

And if you want a flea without masc, buy a locust 3M.
There's your flea without masc. The exact mech.
