Ok these are just ideas that jumped into my head so not fully fleshed out.
one of the problems with CW is the wait for a match and the repetitiveness of matches (wait is not a real problem in PUGs but very repetitive).
It all very much reminds me of "They came on in the same old way and we defeated them in the same old way." As soon as you know the map you kind of know how things are going to play out.
The game works for a balanced 12v12 battle and the maps have to be balanced as well for both sides. This is good but creates limited maps and long waits.
But in real warfare you do not get balanced matches or terrain so way can't it be so in MWO?
So why can't we have 2v7 or 3v4 or any combination that gets a game going quickly. Ah but everyone would quit if you're on the smaller side (I hear you all say). To get people to stick around the rewards for playing on the smaller side could scale so even in defeat you could earn more than a successful match in a 12v12. Just create a system to scale the rewards to the odds using either number of players or tonnage (I like the tonnage idea because you could then have a good reason to take a light over an assault).
On the map front, why not have procedurally generated maps (ok this would be a lot of work and may be unrealistic). The maps would be random within certain rules (which might also be dictated by planet etc). This might favour one side over another, but that's warfare, and it might equally favour the side that has the better tactical awareness.
Now rather than the current base capture you'd need something more flexible to fit the random map. I would think you could give one side a town to defend and the other side has to capture it and hold it for a period of time.
At the end of the game the players could give a rating to the map and this could be used to save certain maps for the devs to look at and maybe consider whether or not to make them permanent maps in the general rotation.
NB I don't mean to remove any current maps or game play. Rather this could be an option for those that tick to indicate they would be happy to play this game type.
