I've been playing mechwarior for quite a lot of time up until community warfare take 1 started out a couple of months back. Then I had enough and stopped (will articulate further down).

Let's say I had my objections with the whole "pay a shitload of money every 4 months so you can enjoy yourself, or wait patiently ~3-4 months to pay the nerfed version of what you could buy" mentality but I got over it. I was patient, determined and I waited. I grinded myself tons of c-bills

and finally mastered several clan variants on top of many other IS variants that I already had mastered.

Let's also say that CW and many other promises that took years to complete also didn't repel me from the game because I managed to play with an organized legion + TS so that made it more fun.

But when CW finally came out and I realized that my hard earned Clan variants were magically turned to mechbay-holders I was outraged. I personally think (despite I have a feeling that most fun-boys won't agree) that this was the final nail in the coffin for this game. I basically had to choose between my long trusted friends + legion versus the mechs I really enjoyed playing and anyway felt way stronger and way more fun to play. That's when I decided to quit overall.

Now, my goal is to finally ask this:

Is there anyway around that? Can u like transfer in mercs and play with both factions or something? any other way to actually enjoy both IS+Clan Community Warfare so I can consider jumping back in the game?

I rarely even think twice about games I abandoned, however I'm really fond of the Mechwarrior GAMES (not battletech rpg, lore etch) since I've been playing them as kid.

Thanks in advance for your answers, hope to see you in game.

EDIT- omfg I have a typo on the title... gave*

You can take short contracts with your faction and switch routinely between IS & Clan - that's what the merc groups do.

If you have a group that plays only one or the other, you'll have to leave them behind periodically. Some groups actually run two different units, one IS and one Clan, so their members can leave one unit and join the other, but still play with the same larger group.

Also, since more people have caught on that CW virtually requires teamwork during drops to have any measurable success, most (all?) factions have implemented a dedicated teamspeak for their faction. Individuals can jump on and drop with a group pretty much anytime. In short, being part of a unit isn't as de rigeur as it was even a couple of months ago. It still helps to play with the same people consistently, but it isn't strictly required.

I really don't mind having to be less organized when I play with Clan mechs, even if that means I'll loose more. I understand that as in many games your focus must be mainly in 1 thing.

So Ill practically have to leave the unit and ask for an invite everytime I want to play with the guys? I haven't spoken with them but I really don't think they created an IS "divison" since they like being close to the lore.

Not practically, definitely. That's how the faction system is set up. Units or individuals pledge their loyalty for a period of time, including "forever".

You'll have to pay to break your contract early or wait for it to expire, also. If your unit is on a permanent contract, I think it's $1.5 Million c-bills. Otherwise, it's $50,000 c-bills per day remaining on the contract. Once you break contract, there's a 72 hour cooldown period before you can sign up with another faction. All of this is to discourage capricious faction-hopping.
