so we all know about the banlist and we got to get to 500 posts about it, so i thought i would throw in the whole PGI undecided on name and shame of cheaters in future.

Personally i think N&S should be a permanent thing in regards to h4x

You NEED to make punishment a deterrent for this sort of thing, because it's one thing to have someone rolling an ALT and cheating with a trial mech, but it's another thing entirely for freaking founders with craploads of funds and optimized loadouts to do it.

This might make people think twice about abusing the system, and might put some of the often extreme paranoia around hacking to rest.

I know one of the people on that list, I really want to know if he actually cheated or not because he doesn't seem like a guy to cheat... especially after spending 500+ dollars on the game.

My interpretation of Name & Shame is that it only applies to MWO players.

If you've been banned then you are not a MWO player anymore.

I don't think we'll see lists of banned cheaters after the first round. PGI put their heads on a pike and made their point. I suspect any cheaters caught henceforth will just quietly disappear.

I really don't get the whole name and shame thing. For instance I am a 49 year old man, who plays video games. How much more embarrassing can anything get on this forum?

Not really. BOTH are self inflicted. If one doesn't cheat, one cannot be shamed.

Yeap! agreed also! Name and shame shouldn't apply to players that get perma-banned, so lists should be public.

A thing to realize about this, why N&S still might not be appropriate... there are possibly people who did get hit by the banhammer who are in communication with PGI right now, telling PGI that they got something wrong, or misinterpreted something in the logs, assuming it was a hack. AS PGI said, plenty of these banned people will claim they did nothing wrong and it is PGI, but it is not impossible that some obscure piece of code or app that was running on the banned player's computer was ASSUMED to be a hack, because it seemed to interact with the banned player's computer in a way that COULD modify information or data, so it got flagged as a hack. IF that player is completely open to PGI and PGI finds that actually, yes the thing they thought was a hack - WASN'T, then what do they do?

Likely take the name off the ban list. But if you and I have been busy Naming and Shaming them meanwhile, then we're the fools. Keep it civil, I would say. We'll see if some of those claiming actual innocence pan out after whatever issues or tickets they have in are resolved by PGI. Or they'll just plain remain the disappeared. No need to N&S.

People who would complain about their game account getting rightfully labeled as cheater only get the same advice from me that might be given to well off people who are cought stealing and start crying once they are cought... You had your "fun". Now live with the consequences.

If there is to be naming and shaming, it should be exclusive to PGI and PGI alone.
I cannot see much good coming out of the community doing the naming and shaming without a solid, 100% certain conclusion.
