Honestly, the Dropship should have an escort of 2-3 Aeros to soften the DZ even more. When possible(when determined to be of minimal risk to friendlies), it should even include something akin to our air strike consumable.

Please don't do give them ideas.

Add more weapons to dropships, then balance itout by having dropships be destroyable, making it so you can't drop further reinforcements once its gone. Sounds fair

Oh, Dropship, why? How have you fallen so to the dark side? You were such a gentle soul, if only a little misunderstood. I will miss our joyrides across the parsecs between the territories of the Great Houses. And stargazing in Liao space, how could I forget that? That was the time when you told me of your angst towards your disapproving father, Overlord. And then there was the time when you pranked my lance at Betelgeuse Gamma by leaving my entire lance planetside at the mercy of the local pygmy dinosaurs.
