What's Similar To The 4P?

I have to admit, after eliting my 4P I fell in love with it. Before that I was averaging 200-300 damage per match, now it's 400-600. I love the high weapon mounts. I love how nimble the mech is - you can poke around corners and back very quickly, and the torso twist speed and radius are really cool. I love how durable the damn thing is, so that you can just run into a weakened enemy and tear them to pieces with a lot of lazers.

*ahem* ...so now I have some spare cash and I'm thinking about buying a new chasis. Is there anything out there that's similar to the 4P? Like a nimble skirmisher with a lot of "oomph"? Or something entirely different that I'd enjoy if I enjoyed the 4P?

Well the Thunderbolt 5SS is quite tanky, nimble for its size and it can wield 7 MPL. But on the other hand it's a heavy (busy queue) and it's weapons are more spread out.

The Shadowhawk 2K can put 3 LL in a single side torso so that looks similar to a 4P. And I hear Grasshoppers are mostly energy boats. There is also the Crab (not king, regular) coming up which is a 50 ton energy boat.

Clan side there is the Stormcrow which still runs 5 C-MPL quite well even after the recent nerfs, and it's even more mobile than the 4P.

Have you mastered 2 more hunchies by the way? The 4G packs quite a punch and the Grid Iron is the best Hero mech and one of the best mechs in general that I own.

And I agree with you; the 4P really clicked for me. It only does one thing but it does it so well and streamlined, what's not to love? :)

I run the 4G with 2xAC/5. Dakka dakka dakka! Lots of fun. A tad too slow for me, though.

If you enjoy UAC5 Dakka, try the Jagermech DD, I regret selling that mech before quirks came out, thinking the JM6-S could do anything the DD can but better.

The BJ-1X is a death machine. I highly recommend it.

I run them with everything: 225 STD, 225-235XL , 265XL, 280X and 295XL. All wreck face.

BJ-1x is a good choice.

There's an Enforcer thats a good medium laser boat. 4r I think?

I run the Battlemaster 3M with 8 MPL and an xl400, makes it as nimble as a std engine Hunch with a lot more oomph. If you can tolerate slower it could run 3 LPL and 5 MPL for some real shredding.

If hero mechs aren't off the table, the Jester, Firebrand, and Arrow can all fit that style of play well.

QFT. Highly underrated and versatile. I have two.

BJ-1X would indeed be good.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Firestarter FS9-S with 7 MPLs. Not quite as tough but a bit faster.

I have Blackjacks elited, but I didn't like them. BJ-1 was fun with double AC2's, but 4G with double AC5's trumps it. BJ-1X was ok, but the narrow torso twist annoyed the hell out of me (which is why I stuck with HBK-4P).

I'll try the Firestarter, Enforcer, Shadowhawk and Stormcrow. Right after I'm done eliting my Ravens ;).

Banshee 3M, can mount more devastating firepower at the cost of speed. Great for taking your anger out of a bad streak. The thunderbolt 5ss has great range for medium pulse lasers reaching out to about 350 with 7 energy mostly right sided. That bj is alright, but it is a little too fragile for my taste. Grasshopper way too spread out weapons but can mount 8.

the shadowhawk is like a taller slightly heavier hunchback but less hardpoints so needs large lasers instead

oh and alternatively save for novas, they have unsurpassable amounts of laser power for a medium

I just have to chime in here with the BJ-1X. I got one a few days ago but I hadn't had a chance to play it because I was grinding my HBRs - lotta fun there too - but I finally dropped in a 6 ML 1 LL build using an XL250 (should use a 255, it's the same weight, but I was short on C-bills and had a 250 from my Endorcers. This thing is death in medium mech form.

First match not having played any Blackjack in two weeks at least I got 2 kills and 853 damage. In a loss. The results since then have been similarly cool. I cannot recommend it highly enough as a major fan of Hunches and the 4P in particular.
