I run all 4 of my enforcers with XL. Most of the time if I get rekt in ST it's my fault but if I apply torso twist skill, running around, JJ-ing, distracting etc. I can get to 50% status before any of my armor plates are gone completely (considering I front load the armor).

Yday I tried this:
ENF-AC20Pain

3 matches, no quirks, died once because I charged 2 lances head on (but managed to get through, back to our lines and die to unfortunate 5 ERPPC direstar...) and yet still did 400ish dmg and 1K/7A. Other match 4/9 with 680 and one more match 2/11 with 500.

it's not 4G fast, it's not that easy to aim as 4G (more comparable to 9AH or YenLo) but it's tanky as hell. If there is really one IS mech that is not XL friendly but more so "you are loosing a lot of firepower if you don't run XL".

Side torso death has not been much of an issue. It happens, but usually after I have lost significant weapons since the best ones are in the arms.

These are my favorite Enforcer builds:
ENF-5D: This is probably my favorite!
ENF-4R: This is probably my favorite! Wish I could put and XL265 in it!
ENF-5P: Probably my least favorite Enforcer, but I did okay with it, just required too much face time.
ENF-4P: This is probably my favorite! Wish I could put jump jets on it! I also have run it with a half ton less armor and 3 tons of ammo with and XL300. That is a very nice way to do it as well!

If I had to pick one as my favorite right now I would put them in this order, but it is subject to change on a moments notice!
4P, 5D, 4R, 5P

I'd say throw in that XL and run around like a crazy person!

I will also add the 2 JJs seems better than one in this mech. It really seems to fly with 2 as compared to one.

This is quickly become one of my favorite chassis!

And I almost forgot, Sigilum Sanctum shared this build with me for the 4P, which is awesome because you can get 5 tons of ammo on that sucker, or if you have trouble with heat an extra DHS!

I have a similar build and too have problem with facetime, until I stick a STD engine in it.
My survival rate and damage output have increase dramatically since.
The drop in top speed mean I can no longer play a fast harass, and switch role to medium escort. Enemy will be too distracted by higher priority targets and will overlook the double tapping Enforcer next to the Timberwolf or King Crab, until it is too late.

Most tend to assume all Enforcer is fitted with XL engine and will stop paying attention after destroying one ST. I have many encounter where the enemy assume I am dead after ST destruction and turn away to face another target.

ENF-5P
