12 ER medium lasers, what kind of troll mech were you using in MW3.

That would actually be the Prime variant of the Nova (Black Hawk for any Inner Sphere surats.) And yes, the 12 ER Mediums can HURT, but the Nova can't really handle the heat from that very well. In TT, it actually can generate almost twice as much heat as it can dissipate.

Actually, I just brought it up in Heavy Metal and it looks like if you jump the maximum distance and alpha strike, you can almost peak out the Level 2 heat scale in one turn. that's 29 waste heat that isn't being dissipated. (It already dissipates 36 heat with 18 double heat sinks.)

Ad I have just realized that I am babbling, so I'm going to shut up now.

I hope that sometime they will make an MW game more like a real simulator. Think DCS Black Shark.
+100 items like toggles, switches, gauges, screens and buttons that can be interacted with through using the mouse rather than using the keyboard.

That would have been awesome. I can still remember the insane grin i had on my face as i did a cold start to take off in DCS Black Shark.
The feeling of immersion and absolute power was intense. But then again i couldn't keep the helicopter in the air for more than 3 minutes before i crashed.

That would be needlessly complex for a on-line game such as this. However if they ever made a single player game then combined with the ability to start outside your Mech and do a full walk around then climb in,scaling up to exterior if necessary, then going though a cold start up,well that would be awesome.

I like the new cockpits, they look more realistic.

Yeah I agree the cockpits look dissappointing, however being F2P it could improve. In my opinion MW3's cockpits blow anything before or after it out of the water still, which is pretty amazing.

The MWO Atlas screenshot: The canopy view is from the left eye socket; the exterior POV (based on weapons fire origin) is indeed more from the right. In other words, it is a work in progress and may be subject to change.

Canonically, the cockpit orientation has never been specified aside from some questionable art or perhaps a writer's fluff - it is often merely artistic interpretation though and many center it. I don't see why MWO will be any different. Generally, the Atlas' satellite uplink equipment is in the right side of the head (along with the beer cooler) with the pilot sitting to the left. It could be regional preference, too.

Just wait and see; not too much longer now.

I really hope they support TrackIR. Good part of the info is displayed on the HUD, it would be nice that when you move your head the HUD moves with you.

No offense, but I prefer not having my screen taken up by cockpit artwork. It would be nice to have an option on how far zoomed in or out you are for those who like that, but all the important data is on the HUD and I'de rather have a clean view of my surroundings. Its not like I can just move my head to see around the cockpit frame.

To be honest I would prefer a completely "virtual" virtual view. I'm piloting an advanced war engine a thousand years into the future, I should be able to get a full field of view display though the mechs integrated sensors.

You know what I don't like about the Cockpit View?

In the Atlas, the lower bar for the window plate is crooked, that **** messes with my head yo.

It's not crooked, it's just angling outward towards the center of it's face. You are in the Atlas's LEFT EYE.

I believe all of the servers are in North America so the cockpit should be in the left eye. European servers may have the cockpit in the right eye.

I think the cockpit is fine as it is with a virtual HUD. However, they can make it so that the actual cockpit in-dash displays and gadgets are what show the HUD screen data, rather than just having it as a virtual pop-up HUD.

What I would find really useful would be a temperature gauge on the dash to watch when powered down for a cool-down; otherwise, how would we judge when to power up from a faster shut-down cool-down?

cl_fov = 85

put that into your user.cfg file to set yourself back further in the cockpit.

After scrolling through the comments, I was about to post this myself. I was surprised that no one told the OP that there IS a way to sit further back in the cockpit, and this is it. The devs have also mentioned that in the future, they will implement a simple slider to shift how far up or back in the cockpit the camera's located.

As you see this is a necro thread, at the time when this question was asked no one knew there was a cl_fov option or the few who knew were under NDA so they couldn't tell us.
