The front of my cockpit is about a mile away from me.
The world is flying past me at weird and disjointed speeds.
I have to either squint to see what's in front of me or be permanently zoomed in.

I'm sure this feature got put in because people asked for it but can someone please tell me the tactical advantage this gives you as right now I just feel like I'm stuck inside of the last 20 minutes of 2001 A Space Odyssey.

because you can set it to 80-90 and it's way better than 70.

Some people get horrendous motion sickness if they don't play at absurd FOV settings.

POV that high is really built for 3 monitors...

... that way when you look at the left monitor it's actually the left window, etc. etc.

having only got the desk (let alone the funds) for three monitors I honestly never thought of that. But then when I tried it out my first thought was "so this is where I'll be when the acid kicks in...."

My father plays at >100 as that way he doesn't get motion sickness. Tried playing once on his computer and had to play zoomed in the while time, but works for him.

and the moral of the story is that a family that frags together stays together!

(not got motion-sickness so, again, not something I had thought of as a usage of it)

This time, PGI opted to give the players freedom of choice to decide for themselves. I applaud that. It was a very good call. They could have set a limit to 100 degrees, but I don't imagine 120 degrees was much more work for them. Instead of letting players choose within a range that 80% of players would be happy with, they expanded our range of choices so ensure that 99% of players would be happy.

Well done.

I'm in no way knocking that it was added, I was just going 'mokay... erm... why??' as I honestly didn't get it. I now have more knowings of why some folks find it useful, which makes me go "huzzah for this update, even if I won't use it as it made my eyes go all hurty after two rounds".

I can tell you haven't done much acid. Or the quality has fallen since the 80s.

It's all personal preference. 110 degrees is awesome for me, my eyes, and my monitor. I don't expect it to work for everyone. Still, most modern PC games damn well should support it. These aren't consoles. It's very nice to see PGI integrate this into their game at last so we don't have to keep fiddling with ini's.

I would bet it's also intended as a statement that these tweaks aren't hacks or cheating.

I have had at least 1 CW match in which one of the opponents informed that he was going to report us all for hacks because we admitted most of us had switched cockpit glass off in the ini.

Less time wasted on drama and unnecessary cheat accusations by adding these little things directly to the game settings. GJ PGI.

higher than 65 FOV is unbearable for me.

i tried 75 for a match and i was going to throw up.

Wide fov with no triple monitor setup is just torture.
