So i just did a drop in a dire wolf with 6 uac 5s. i killed 4 assault mechs by myself. With the new super buffs to clan ACs (yeah, they are THAT good. real talk) the uac direwolf might actually be OP.

PGI probably already knows this, so expect a nerf to dires with ACs.

What i hope they do is nerf ONLY UACs, not regular ACs. give each pod with ballistic slots a 5%-10% nerf to jam chance. only to uacs tho, regular ACs are just fine.

Any Boating of the C AC/UAC's is going to be OP due to this change. But I was in the minority about this opinion yesterday./

Because people are powercreeps. Not matter what you do: they always will boat. Atleast most of them. Currently lasers, but hoping to see more ballistics involved.

granted only been 5 drops so far but each side has been boating the damn things. Mkes the life of the light difficult at best.

I still think that for Every Weapon system past 2 you put on a mech there should be a negative quirk associated with it to deter boating. Depending on the chassis,.

Should have been the stalker that dropped in front of me on HPG, he lasted all of one burn.

That is any mech with a jenner, you have any idea how many I one shotted with a grasshopper this weekend.

People.

The Dire Whale has fifty-point-five tons of pod space stock, and also more potential hardpoints than an entire lance of ordinary mediums. It can't not rip through anything it feels like in five seconds flat if the pilot has any idea whatsoever what he's doing.

You can't stop the Dire Whale from being a horrifying weapons platform with more guns than your body has room for.

The point of the Clan autocannons burst adjustments were to make it such that carrying one Clan autocannon, or perhaps two on certain fortunate heavies, was not a pointless endeavor. Recall that until today (and frankly quite possibly after today, at work and can't play the new patch till I get home), singular Clan burstguns were considered the next best thing to completely useless - unless stacked to the rafters on a Whale.

Stop getting mad that Dire Whales can outgun you, and remember that this change means more Timber Wolves with autocannons taking up half their laser vomit tonnage.

I tried em at lunch was not impressed with UAC20s at all, a competent pilot will roll that damage all day. Need velocity buff aswell to make useable, or worth the weght. Which currently they are not.

Cant speak to UAC5s though, although if they are "better" than they probably could work alright on a DW as Grevious said.

Always has been. The AC buff was entirely un-needed for clans.

NO! Do not nerf the UAC! We just started down the road to fixing them. Instead give the Dire some negative quirks for boating UAC. If you nerf all UAC you nerf all mechs, even the bad ones who use UAC.

No really it was needed, the UACs sucking is why you had laser vommit, at least there are options no.

Otherwise its going to be pulse + guass, because there is no choice.

The Clans did not need the fix to the AC's all your going to get now is people boating them and Pulse lasers., The Clans were balance with less weight and more range that is all that was needed with them damn things.

I am all for increasing the TTK. This just took a major shift into decreasing it.

Velocity makes no difference whatsoever to damage rolling. Burst duration, which Piranha adjusted today, is equivalent to a laser weapon's burn time spec, and has the same critical importance. That's why shaving off well over a third of the /20's burst duration is a really big deal, and may well salvage the weapon by itself. Sure, velocity increases would be nice, but that's pretty much an across-the-board thing for almost all projectile weapons at this point, hm?

Frankly, when I get home and can get some work done, the cUAC/10 is first up on my list. That was already the most almost-useable of the Clautocannons pre-patch, with enough shot velocity to get by and a significantly shorter overall burst duration as compared to the /20, while still being a 20-damage autocannon when one factors in the Ultra double-tap. Sure, the cUAC/20 can spit out more damage/ton than any other ballistic gun in the game, but it's slow damage, hot damage, and twelve tons is still half your payload or better in most everything on the Clan side that isn't named Dire Whale.

Still not sure where I want to use it, though. That old cUAC/10, 2x cLPL TBR of mine was entertaining but almost seemed like a waste of the chassis. Heck if I can find a better place for that autocannon, though. Maybe swap out the Gauss on my SCR? Hmm...will have to do some serious SMurfyWarrioring before I get rolling on this.

How many cACs actually use the added range?

With the slow travel speed and generous burst, extra range was useless.


Travel speed makes that range useful, and if you didn't touch the burst, it has the same difference between the shells.

Just to be Very Very clear.

The UAC's never sucked. NEVER.

Lower weight, Faster ROF, Double Rate of fire and longer range than the IS counter parts. They are well balanced.

It's just that clan lasers were "SO" damn good they have to make the CAC's godlike to compete. Not because the UAC's were not good, but because the Clan Lasers were just that damn good.
