Velocity makes no difference whatsoever to damage rolling. Burst duration, which Piranha adjusted today, is equivalent to a laser weapon's burn time spec, and has the same critical importance. That's why shaving off well over a third of the /20's burst duration is a
really big deal, and may well salvage the weapon by itself. Sure, velocity increases would be
nice, but that's pretty much an across-the-board thing for almost all projectile weapons at this point, hm?
Frankly, when I get home and can get some work done, the cUAC/10 is first up on my list. That was already the most almost-useable of the Clautocannons pre-patch, with enough shot velocity to get by and a significantly shorter overall burst duration as compared to the /20, while still being a 20-damage autocannon when one factors in the Ultra double-tap. Sure, the cUAC/20 can spit out more damage/ton than any other ballistic gun in the game, but it's slow damage, hot damage, and twelve tons is still half your payload or better in most everything on the Clan side that isn't named Dire Whale.
Still not sure where I want to use it, though. That old cUAC/10, 2x cLPL TBR of mine was entertaining but almost seemed like a waste of the chassis. Heck if I can find a better place for that autocannon, though. Maybe swap out the Gauss on my SCR? Hmm...will have to do some serious SMurfyWarrioring before I get rolling on this.
