I thought bishop called them out and russ claimed they fixed it?!?! No wonder my grasshopper feels like a banshee. (besides being as tall) Hopper should get medium archetype, as those massive legs have to be good for something for Christ's sake.

Grasshopper reminds me of C3P0 in episode 1 with all his bits showing.

Quickdraw & Grasshopper would benefit alot from being set to Medium archetypes.

Why are the most agile heavies given assault movement profiles? Pgi... oh.. right.

Well, the Grasshopper is a large and heavy (75ton) heavy mech so I guess it makes se............

DARN IT! WHY OH WHY PGI!?!?!

Ugh. So now moving up a hill in this thing is going to be painful huh? I'm with LordBraxton, the legs are like half the mech's height, they should be good at climbing.

This is not really a necessary nerf in my eyes. Well, I thought the JJs were ok before, now I'll be forced to use them more and I'm sure my opinion will now fall in line with others (that JJs stink on the GH).

The Grasshopper is listed as Huge because the mechs size rating is entirely determined by what size capsule it fits into (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large or Huge) and because of its physical height it only fits into the Huge one.

They have quirked it so it climbs hills equivalent to a mech in a Large capsule.

The question is: what other attributes does the mechs movement category affect? is it JUST hill climbing, or does it affect other things, like Jump jet performance?

Guys, the hopper is been so since day one.

Don't you feel it, while piloting?

Correct.

Hopper is, and has been, huge archetype since it arrived.

It effectively has a custom archetype now after the changes alleviating hill climbing.

Pretty sure they fixed that though and split movement type off from the capsules, there was a big thing about it on Russ Twitter and he personally made them fix it.

It may just be a case of copy/paste from earlier template without editing all the info properly? It happens EVERY announcement.

Grassflobber should have Medium movement type though, thats what it needs and that fits its oversized legs.
It just feels like a slightly faster Fatlas, its all wrong.
The improved agility will revive the dud mech.

I've known this. The size affects everything from twist performance to acceleration/deceleration. PGI 'fixed' only the hill climb aspect.

To me, the actual visual representation of the mech should also come in to play in regards to movement. Mechs like the 'hopper and Vindicator are slimmer and less bulky and should in theory be more agile. Mechs like the Wolverine look weighted and broad for their weight class and should be more difficult to maneuver, again in theory. This of course is relative to the weight class a mech is in.

I'll give PGI the benefit of the doubt that they have a "surface area" scale of some sort per ton or weight class, so IS mechs that are 70 tons should in theory be close if not the same to others.

What is this "archetype" I'm reading about?

Ok heres the patch notes when they "fixed" it, and yeah all they did was fix the hill climb If archtype effects anything else then that was always left broken :(

^As far as I'm aware, hill climbing is all that is affected by movement archetype. Being "Huge" shouldn't affect torso twist etc.

Atleast, that's how movement archetypes were first introduced... Man I've been playing this game too long ;)

It is still huge.

They added a line of code to artificially "change" it, though I believe it still impacts things like JJs.

The current Movement Archetype distribution is absolutely ********, if you pardon my French.
We have canonically agile mechs like the Quickdraw and Grasshopper (Quickdraw's ability to climb hills is always the thing that's emphasized in its technical readout) are given Large and Huge/Large (i don't even know anymore) archetypes, when a 70 tonner Cataphract and almost all 65 tonners have the Medium archetype.

So not only these two mechs get screwed by shite jumpjets, oversized models, they also get shafted by having downright WRONG movement archetypes.

Whoever was the person decided this, should get kicked in the balls.

I still think this nwhole movement archtype and hill climbing is nonsense for walking robots. I mean this is one of THE advantages you have over a tank, that you can climb steeper angles.

I would be ok with something like slowing down or maybe if you have hand actuators you can climb better, but being unable to get up some slopes is frustrating like playing mordor all day.

Sure, it adds some depth to the game but on the other hand, the maps are already designed with lanes like dota, a bit more freedom would add something, too.

So that explains why my Zeus feels better than my Grasshopper despite having the same engine. Kinda funny how everyone was psyched to have an IS laservomit mech and then it turned out to pilot like an overweight beached whale.

Oh my god... Bishop's post explains all for me. No wonder the grasshopper sucks! it has highlander jets! I knew it!

And PGI' ridiculous 'capsule' system means the only way to fix it is to resize it, which will never happen?!!

In this case, the hopper needs additional speed\agility\JJ quirks ASAP.
