Heyo, PGI
I think the biggest reason there is criticism on the feedback forum about the new UI.
Instead of fixing the current one, you create a whole new one, with its own set of problems.
Why can't we use the old one, and then add improvements to it instead?
Its already familiar, and we based ALL of our suggestions on the old UI. Now we have to create a whole new set of "please fix this PGI" threads because you pulled the same junk as with the last UI.
Even the "expanded mechlab" is half-assed. Only 1600x900 and up? You need to maybe look at that again, even at low resolutions the smurfy at 100% zoom works.
And with that - 1920x1080 there is LOADS of space to put in all your information. I shouldn't have to click any extra menus to get modules and perks on the screen. Instead of more menus, just add check boxes for the windows you want to see. Toggle perks and modules.
also keyboard controls still not present. Arrow keys for moving around and selecting, THE ESCAPE KEY, please use it to back out of menus.
New "grid and tabs mech select" is absolutely confusing. Why is the normal "select a mech" gone, I can't simply double click a mech from the menu and edit it (well couldn't before anyways), I have to select sorting, select a class or type, then select a mech, then click 'save' then click 'mechlab' ??? The layout before was STILL better.
I can see modules now, but you're still failing at "getting it" - I shouldn't have to click a mech to see if it has modules. Biggest gripe - no "strip all modules", this is THE feature that is missing.
_______
Here is how you test a UI - get someone that has NEVER SEEN YOUR GAME, sit them down and ask them do "things" in your lab, and watch how they go about using your UI. Do not give them input, just watch.
It still feels like the guy/team/project manager has never really tested or used the "new guy" perspective...

It's so bad I don't feel as though I should have to dedicate time to break down how many points of it are lacking. It feels like a job, like I'm doing someone else's job for them. The crazy thing is the pay model, I've purchased mechs and MC, I can't see how this could be that understaffed or the feedback so skewed they had no idea how changing the entire interface to an extremely convoluted, compartmentalized one would put people off. I just started MWO again and I'm still so confused. It's a gigantic waste of time to even have to come here to vent hoping they'll read any of this and do anything about it. I play this game almost daily, I don't visit the forums because I care little for what's going on here(Take a look at some of the horribly sad posts about IS or Clans) but things like this drum people like me out of the woodwork.
