it was 2 clicks for ANY of your mechs and start. How many do u need now 4-7 ? anyone who can defend this, is sick in my eyes.

the one that took 20 clicks to lvl a module, and 4 more to install, that never let you know what was being redeemed, and you couldn't organize at all?

That gem of a mechlab?

sorry to hear 4 mouse clicks is going to cause carpal tunnel or something for you.

Oh, sorry. You said "functional" what word did you mean to type?

That last click, on the "save" button (which is a very weird choice of word) should really be a double-click on the 'mech icon itself instead. That would flow so much easier.

Apart from that though, the new mechlab is a head and shoulders improvement on the old one - I don't know if it's "10 x improvement" like Russ thinks, but it is very much better.

And this is coming from someone who was anticipating disappointment on a UI2.0-scale.

Kudos where kudos are due; the new 'mechlab is a clear improvement.

Well, it looks like the new Mechlab reduced the number of clicks needed to build a Mech and so PGI had to make up for that by adding in more clicks to actually select a Mech and play. Have to keep everything in balance, you know :)

Lets see. I want to configure my current mech?
> Click mechlab.

= 1 click.

I want to select a new mech. (using sort by "Class (ASC)" )
> Select 'Mech.
> Medium.
> Clicks Centurion.
> Select.

= 4 clicks. (3 if you're using one from the same category.)

This sound really simple to me.

Ok, one thing I think needs to be cleared up for ALL of these discussions.

Mechlab is the place where you edit the mechs themselves.

Mech selection is where you select the mechs.

Mechlab overall I would say has been greatly improved with this patch.

Mech Selection on the other hand has taken a step backwards in how small the screen is and how many buttons you have to push just to have any hope of finding your mech.

Criticism is fine, but its vary dangerous to criticize the wrong things. (We don't want them assuming that we are pissed off about the things that actually improved.)

So just be sure that blanket statements like "its bad, change it back," is a bit more specific. A lot of things changed, and a good many of them changed for the better. So be sure to isolate what the core issues are for the things that DID take a step backwards.

The only single gripe I have so far, is there is no longer a nice tiled Mech selection window.

That is it, everything else for building your mech, is pretty damn nice.

Few kinks here and there, but overall its a nice improvement.

The mechlab changes seem to generally be a step forward. The mech selection screen is a joke however. There is a lot of wasted room too, and some very strange decisions.

Go to the module screen and try to get a popup of what a module actually does - rather than popping up in the 2/3rds of the screen that is free, it pops up to the left......

Mech details/quirks. There is loads of wasted space that this box could be moved to, and in fact there is enough room to display the quirks already expanded in these areas.

It's like they are designing this ui for people playing at 1024. Who does that these days? Isn't it a pretty given fact that over 90% of people use 1920 (steam stats at least)? Honestly though, does pgi contract out for this work? It's been an awful long time coming and it isnt even finished.

oh men.... what are you doing often ?
leveling a module, or click any mech for combat ?

common sense missing by some of you , it seems.

4 clicks instead of 2. math problem ?

the irony of the statement. I fly thru the new mechlab, easy to find my loadouts, including modules, hit mech, hit expand, smurfy build, hit save and play.

Not sure where your issues are, but I am hoping you don't have to deal with anything more technical than programming a coffee maker for a living, if you find this somehow "difficult".

Yup, a few things could be added, I'm sure a couple things, removed. But in total, this thing is dirt easy to use.
