That is neat but the ER PPC still goes too slow for its massive amount of heat, it needs to be distinguished from the PPC by traveling significantly faster.

Both Peeps need that, really.

The Clan ERPeep, though, could go in multiple different paths. Maybe keep it really slow, but make it do more pinpoint damage. Or, actually reduce the direct damage (increase splash, still 15 total) but give it a holy-crap-wtf ultra fast speed. Or something more generic like a bit less speed than the (buffed) IS ERPeep and a slightly slower cooldown would suffice.

So PPCs are now useful for the mechs that have quirks for them. Good for them.

and my AWS-9m is still better off with lasers. so sad, i might have thrown some PPCs on there if it was backward compatible.

The thing I like about the 8Q is that its ERPPCs also get a 25% cooldown, so mounting two with level 5 cooldown modules and 5 med/small(pulse) lasers or two (er)LL or LPLs is more effective close up then it was before, even on the 9m, which is good as a long range mech that can move fast and carry srms if needed. The two arm mounts in the 8Q are really nice for that 20 PPD on fast moving targets and leaves the torsos open for different weapons.

If you can't hit stuff with a 1470 m/s erppc, the problem ain't the weapon.

So basically this guy with ERPPC BJ-3 Popjack will also benefit from PPC quirks. Neat.

PPC VELOCITY: 20.00 % PPC COOLDOWN: 10.00 % ENERGY COOLDOWN: 10.00 % PPC HEAT GENERATION: -10.00 % ENERGY HEAT GENERATION: -10.00 %

Then there are the Vindicators...

Panther does it better 2 err ppcs 245 xl and 3 jj's and it's 10 tonnes lightly.

Winning!

true, but end of the day, I'll stick to my Templar. 2 torso PPC, 2x LL in the RA, and 3x Mlaser in the head and STs. 300 STD engine and a lot of DHS. Ain't "comp" by any means, but is effective and downright mean when it isn't getting focus fired.

That's actually also pretty close to one of the builds I use too, location wise. I like the PPCs in one torso so the LLs can more easily track the legs of annoying lights. For long range, maybe a quick armlock toggle for max effectiveness, then let loose. I also do 2(er)ppc 2 LPL. Its a pretty nice alpha with a relatively short cooldown and no ghost heat. With PPCs you can fire it around three times before an overheat.

Its pretty nasty on the AWS-8T because it has a generic 30% energy cooldown, so 42% cooldown with module with a synced recharge time, add to that the 25% beam duration quirk it has and you get LPLs with a .5 beam, same as a spl. A 42 damage repeatable alpha with almost no face time at a decent range.

PPC hit reg is poor. Seems like issues started happening when PGI began changing ppc velocity.

seriosuly, if EVERY mech that is meant to use PPCs needs the same buffs to make them viable, maybe they could put 2+2 together and buff the ******* gun itself?

And if they did that, then every Mech would be running nothing but PPC's just like the old days...

That would only happen if the PPCs got buffed to be superior to most other weapons. If they got buffed to approximate parity, that wouldn't happen.

12 or 13 dmg, 15 heat, 4.25-4.5s CD, 1250ms base velocity. Quirks for certain mechs up to 1300-1400. No splash.....

Yeah but the panther 10k is it with the R bonus? it's got 25% less heat from er ppcs, 25% cooldown and 40% verlocity.

So even though it's lighter and has less DHS i still think it's compariable to the blackjack and still saving me 10 tonnes and putting me in a light mech rather than a medium one so from my pov,

Winning!!!

Now as for low slung arms, errrr it's a pop tarting nightmare, low slung isn't an issue. Though i can say on some maps i've made a shot, hit target with the 1 er ppc and the 2nd one hits terrain. An this can happen while firing both at the same time.

But there are so many other mediums i'd rather drive and use the pather for the duel er ppc than some black jack.

Thus i think the ppc black jack is inferior.

I stick to the VND, for it myself, but that's just preferring the agility on it.

You know that the issue with PPCs is the speed, not that dmg or heat, rite?
Shooting 15 ppd PPC with 800m/s is not the same as shooting 7.5 ppd PPC with 1600m/s. EVEN with the same heat.
First one will be overheating its mech without any useful output (i.e. dmg to an enemy). Second one will be troubled a little with the heat, cause dat enemy couldn't reach his position alive anyways.
Speed quirks is the way to say:'this mech allowed to use PPCs, that mech is not'.

Can't say why PGI ain't see this stupidity.
