I will have to wait for the weekend to check it out. Can't be THAT bad, can it?

Please let us know where the bad new mechlab touched you.

( No, really, what is wrong with it? Seriously, let us know!)

Sometime it is, yes.

Not all the time, but not all change is good.

Now I haven't seen the new mechlab for myself yet, nor tested it, but if some of the commentary about it is true, it is one step forward and two steps back.

Edit: E.g. the doubling of the amount of clicks to select a 'mech.

the only thing i really want back is the wall of mechs to select from, rather than the drop down list where i have to scroll through everything to find the right one.

Yeah I was a little disappointed when I saw the Mech select screen, but I think I can look past it if the rest of the mechlab is good.

the wall of mechs, makes it easy, and simple to just select another mech and get right back into playing. now i need to sort through this ungodly menu to find something, and it's further divided by clan/IS subsections.

More clicks are better, bro (or something).

Seriously, though...is it that bad?

I would be happy if I could just figure out how to purchase new mechs...

it's going to take some time to get used to. the rest, it's good, and can work. the lack of seeing everything you have, right there ready to go once you click mechlab? thats just not something i was ever willing to give up

The new mechlab I can live with, it's not bad but then I didn't really have any issues with the previous one.
Mech selection however.... jesus, it's frustratingly bad. Too many mouse clicks needed, the previous method of showing all owned mechs in a weight class and clicking on the one you want was, to me, MUCH better.

the minimum resolution for expanded view is a bit harsh imho. The mechlab never scaled very well and font is still too tiny... but 1600x900... my notebook makes 1366 or so :(

Meh... This is the same hair-on-fire response when UI 2.whatever came out.

Agreeably not all change is good and not all change is bad. That said, snap judgement on 30 seconds of clicking is hardly giving the opportunity to adapt to the change.

I like the new lab itself but dear god I do not want to spend 5 clicks in a spreadsheet to select a mech. Bring back the wall of mechs and add the new mechlab behind the configure button.

Actually, it's four clicks and some scrolling.

You click(1) on the "Select Mech" tab, it opens to the chassis you currently have selected.
You scroll through the list to find the chassis you want, click(2) to expand that tab, click(3) to select the variant you want, and click(4) "save" ("save"? why "save"?) to make it active.

You can save some scrolling by a fifth click in-between click (1) and (2) if you select a weight class instead of "all".

Edit: Now that I've tested it, the actual mechlab part of it is actually pretty nice. Hideous colours and a lack of borders, but it is much, much easier to work with than the old. So Kudos on that one, PGI.
