Hey all, I have mastered the HBK's and had a ball doing it, I have also tried the Nova (too slow for what it offers imo) the Warhawk (baby Whale with out the armor) and several others. Imho I do not care for the clan mechs because you can't customize armor, structure or engines. I am torn between the Jager and the Shadowhawk as my next set to master. I want to build a long range killer and these 2 look great for hill humping and doing solid dps. From what I have found from builds it seems the Jager would be squishier than the Hawk even though its a heavy? I would like to be a great long range support mech that can bang then bang out. Tell me what you all think for a experienced novice.

both of those Mechs have both advantages and disadvantages.
the Shadow Hawk has a lot worse torso twist than the Hunchback, however it can be a lot faster, it can Jump, and has a wider variate of hardpoints, with most variants having energy balistic and missile, and it is XL freindly.
the Hawks ballistic hardpoints are the same height as the cockpit, which can be a disadvantage because the muzzle flash will be blocking half your field of view and the barrel will cut off a lot of your right side vison, however back when we had the AC5/PPC and Gauss PPC poptart meta the SHawk with its JJs and high hardpoints was considered one of the best Mechs in the game.
the Jagermech is one of the best fire support Mechs, it benefits from high mounted ballistic hardpoints as well as the capability of mounting at least 2 of any AC, its major disadvantage is that it has huge side torsos making an XL engine a big risk, but without an XL you cannot mount the big guns with adequate movement speed and armor. builds like 2x AC20, 2x Gauss, 4x AC5/UAC5 and 6xAC2 can be accomplished with the Jagermech, but you are forced to choose between mobility, durability and firepower you cannot have all 3.
if you are going for XL on a Jagermech I would strongly advise against front line fighting, you want to be firing from behind cover, and preferably also behind your teams front line.
a standard engine max armor Jagermech is extremely durable but you will not be taking as many ballistic weapons or a pair of large ballistics without seriously compromising on speed.
