Ok, so I am a loooooong time MW2 player. When MWO came out, I bought in as a founder. When the Beta came, I played, but I didn't spend a dime of my MC, or activate my premium time. The game wasn't ready to waste my stuff. So, After a couple months I stopped playing and left it alone. Now fast forward to last night. New pathc, so I fired it up. Everything looks pretty cool. I almost dropped in with my founder mechs, but I got distracted by something else. So, for you all playing the past few months. Should I wait until CW is full release, or should is now a good time to finally dive in.

You are the best person to know the answer for that.

Some will say it is a good time, some will say it isn't.

Just do a few drops, experiment new mechs or old ones, and try to have fun.
If the fun isn't enough for you, then check back in September or later.

I don't find the CW that great.. Some enjoy it.. But you also need a bunch of mechs, and a lot of leveling, and a lot of c-bills to even try it. Maybe 2 months of weekend playing to even get ready to be competitive, not to mention actually learning to play and all the rolls of the mechs.. I'd play a couple weekends in normal drops, and see how ya like it.... You could also goto youtube, and watch a ton of videos. Koniving has a ton of videos..

I really enjoy CW. The respawn with 4 mechs really adds a whole new dimension to the game.

That being said, I would do as others have recommended and play some regular queue for a couple months before activating any premium time. As a practically new player, you will rack up the rewards via the "Achievements" that were added last year anyway.

CW is much more enjoyable to me as a member of a Unit. Dropping in CW as a solo player is definitely hard mode. You can have an occasional enjoyable match if the queue is loaded up and you by chance end up in a drop that is mostly other solo players, but as a solo, you'll typically being going up against large groups of organized Units. PGI will be adding another game mode for CW, 4v4, but no ETA yet. That should help small groups and solos enjoy CW much more.

Once you have mastered at least 4 mechs totaling 240 tons combined drop weight, then give CW a try.

I would say yeah, go for it. It's as good a time as any to jump in.

Note: You can activate premium time one month at a time.

I'd do regular drops as people above said, and just activate 30 days of premium time while you're at it. If you decide to wait for more in CW, then you're only out 30 days of your premium; if you do stay you've had Premium active during that time.

Just a word of caution: To activate 30 days, you must activate through your profile here on the website. DO NOT activate through the game client. It will activate all your banked time.

I cant give you an answer as to whether you should take a deep dive into this game or not, but I would recommend not rushing into CW. CW is very tough, and a group of great individual players can be pub-stomped by a a clan of mediocre players because of teamwork and knowledge of the map/gametype.

I also wouldn't even touch CW until you have 4 mechs (that meet the weight limit) that you have Elited, and have fitted to last prolonged battles. CW matches last 30 min, with multiple objectives, a (usually) competant enemy and difficult terrain. You can still try and do CW if you want, but you are not going to do very well if you aren't prepared for it. Even me, as a player with over 100 mechs, and a solid 60 of them are elited, with great fits and a number of them with modules, and jumping in a PUG drop it's already a very low chance of winning unless its another PUG group we are playing.

That being said, standard gameplay modes can still be fun, and a great learning experience. And during weekend events it can be a great cbill farm. Just keep slogging through, pick up some mechs that you like, get good with them before jumping into CW.

You need to play public que and master your mechs before going into CW.

While the game mode is very fun, the queue is slow and conquering planets has no point right now. So it's really your choice.

there is nothing to stop you from going in with 4 trial Mechs, but it will be more rewarding if you drop with an organized group/unit.

you will come up against people who have a highly optimized drop-deck with mastered Mechs mounting a full suite of modules, and who practice together several times a week.

if you come up against one of those elite teams as 12 individuals you will loose, however if you are with a team, who know how to work together you will be able to put up a fight.

it is your decision, sometimes you will find yourself working with a good team and end up winning other times you will be mercilessly destroyed by an elite Unit (a 12-0 loss in the solo queue is not usualy fun, imagine if it was 48-0, that has definitely happened)

I came back after a year hiatus and I've fallen in love with the game all over again. There are still issues, community warfare is... tactically limited (lot of long range combat and peekaboo) with few good options for light mech pilots due to map design, some mechs have hit box issues, etc. But, on the whole, balance is good, most weapons are decent, and a lot of the terrible mechs of old have been buffed to the point that they're playable (yay dragons).

Is it worth spending your MC and activating premium time? That's up to you, but I'd definitely say it's time to start playing again.
